So today i called US Fidelis, you know, the extended car warranty people, after seeing their commercial on TV. Immediately they asked for my name and read back my phone number from caller ID and told me I was in their system.

Then, after I told them that I drove a volvo 850, they told me their offer was a one time thing, and I would be put on a black list if I did not get it. Once on this blacklist, I would never again be able to get coverage for any car.

I got tranfered to a "warranty specialist" to learn about the warranty, but really it was just a salesman who seemed very anxious to get a deposit. He kept asking me "so is that gonna be on Visa or Mastercard," even though we were talking about other aspects of the deal. I told him I wanted a written copy of the contract before I paid anything, but he refused saying the deposit was necessary to get the paperwork sent out!
I found out that the coverage doesnt begin until one month from when you buy it, or 1000 miles, whichever comes last.

Also, after I said I didn't the coverage, he miraculously lowered the price by $400 and eliminated the $50 deductible due on each visit to the repair shop.
He kept asking for the deposit and kept saying I would be put on this blacklist, so I just hug up.

Hi

I first wanted to tell you that the warranty goes into affect after the miles AND the days are met. Not either / or.

You will not be put on a black list. Actually, your name will probably be stored and another department from that company will call you at a later time and offer you a better deal.

You will NOT get any paperwork from the company until you make a down payment. People that are wise enough to ask for the contract in advance to making the payment SCARE the company as they know they will read the contract and see what a RIPOFF it is.

Those who are trusting, naive, vulnerable, gullible...whatever the description....may never read their contract and think they have all this great coverage and find out they do not when they try to use it. The people who actually read the contract will call in to cancel, but will go through a great ordeal of time and harassment. The employees are required to talk you into keeping the coverage starting at the customer service department, then to the accounts receivable department, then to finally the accounts resolutions department who will nag at you to keep it and bottom out the price. All calls are recorded by law, and also so that the management can monitor the calls to make sure the employees are 'building value', 'painting pictures' and other metaphors for the customer (in other words, trying to persuade customer they NEED the coverage). Some managers get right down to the dirt and say "beat em up a little before you offer the lower rate" or 'go down fighting'.

The employees go through training sessions of endless brainwashing of how to always blame the dealer for circumstances; and how the warranty is something that the customer needs worse than their fountain soda-a-day, or daily newspaper habit. Gee, if they just gave up some of these things they could afford that protection.....POM...peace of mind....but what does the management of US Fidelis give up..........?

95 percent of the management that works at that company drives new vehicles; and trade in before their factory coverage every
runs out. If you took a drive around their parking lot, look for every parking spot that says "RESERVED MANAGER" and see what kind of vehicle is parked there.


Also, be sure to go to the Better Business Bureau website and look them up. They have a grade of "F" . They try to make excuses about why they got that rating and that the BBB is unfair, etc. Well, why does a company the size of State Farm have an "A" ? They have ten times the business and customer's that US Fidelis has; thus greater the possibility of a bad rating..BUT THEY STILL HAVE AN "A"!


Pass this information to anyone you know. Save people from getting ripped off.
