So i wasnt really thinking and was still a little groggy when i woke up, she said that her boss would call back and to put in a good word for her. he called back and silly me gave him my credit card number....then I told my mom about it and she said that I shouldnt do it because I had no job and no money on my credit card. So they called back to confirm the order and I told the guy, I think his name was Chris, that I didnt want to order it anymore that I wanted to cancel, he came out point blank and said that you cannot cancel. Because he was calling me to get authorization to charge my card. I told him not to I didnt want to do it anymore.
He became very aggressive on the phone. and I felt as if I was being pressured into this deal. He said did you accept the charges, I said do you have any proof that I accepted the magazines. He said that they told me that I could not cancel once I accepted and I said the guy who called me before said no such thing. He never told me that I could not cancel once I accepted. So he was telling me yes the guy did. So i asked him if he has it on tape. He said no they only have a teleprompter that they read off to people that they call.
I said well you need to find out if he said that i wasnt allowed to cancel because he didnt tell me that and thats the only way they could get out the deal. So when we hung up, he told his supevisor and another guy called me even more aggressive and verry verry rude. He was telling me that I was not allowed to cancel and that they already placed the order for the magazines and that was over $800 that they already placed an order in my name and they already paid it directly to the magazine companies. I told him how I had no job and no money on my card but he didnt care. he kept pressuring me and pressuring me until I gave in.
then they placed me on a recording with me accepting to pay $29.30 a month which was the college students discount. I was very upset and my mom told me I shoudlve called the better business bureau on them. I fell behind on some of my payments and started to pay them every 2 months or 3 months. then i got a letter from a collections agency saying i owed them 200 and something dollars. I think it was 175 in back pay and 2 something in total for the upcoming months.
Here's the highly upsetting part. I explained my situation to the collections lady and she said well they told you that you had 72 hours to cancel in writing if you didnt want it! WTF? I said they told me no such thing. I told her they told me I COULD NOT cancel, thats why i ended up agreeing because he would not let me cancel.
She said oh well mam, it happpens to everyone. You live and you learn. Just like that! I was soooo pissed offf. Now i'm suppose to be getting 16 or 18 months of free magazines. NOT ONE MAGAZINE HAS COME TO MY HOUSE SINCE I PAID THEM OFF! I am extremely angry because this company is a total and complete rip off. I never got the watch they said I would get. and I have yet to see the first free magazine!
SOMEONE PLEASE DO SOMETHING TO STOP THIS MAGAZINE COMPANY!
