On june 15, 2008 I left my home in Fl. for what i thought was a good company. The first day Everything sounded good, the second day things started sounding a little worse, the third day while showing there strickter side to appx. 20 students, 12 drivers with less than a year of experiance and myself with 8 years and 7 others with more than a year experiance i was told i was disqualified.

The next day I called them to find out why and what they first said was a felony on my background to which i said i wasn't convicted and the charges were droped by the state. She confirmed that they included the no conviction but told me to sign a piece of paper to get the reason in writting.

So here I sit living in my vehicle waiting on there papers to arrive while our highways are loaded with inexperianced drivers behind the wheel's of there trucks. I really can't believe that i was turned away for somthing i didn't do, why else would the state of Florida drop the charges.

Also this is a company how will fire drivers if they execute a U-Turn but also charge you for going out of route or over you miles by 20 or more. some missed turns can easily equal 20 miles or more if U-Turns are prohibited how contradictory is that.

Drivers beware of this company, especially experianced drivers. They appear to be a company only interested in students and as another driver reported on here they claimed they terminated him but never gave him a truck only orientation of two and a half days same as me. If thats on my DAC there going to have some explaning to do. I'll keep this up to date as thing unravel.

#2 UPDATE EX-employee responds

U.S. Xpress A Rogue company!

AUTHOR: Brian - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, February 16, 2009

I am going to backup Trey on a few things. I attended Orientation for U.S. Xpress in November of 2008. After discussing all details with the recruiter, I was led to believe that I had a job, with them. On day one of Orientation, it was made clear that U.S Xpress was considering us for employment. This was stike #1 as far as I was concerned.
Next was all the whoops they require you to jump through, with all the trips to the Orientation Office to explain every detail about previous jobs, giving explanations over and over again. This becomes tedious and very frustrating, borderline the inquisition! The breaks, gave me a chance to talk to current employees and the more information I received the less I wanted to finish orientation.
Drivers complained about low miles (teams getting 1200 miles a week) and little promised hometime after weeks out on the road.
It seem like just about everytime I went outside to smoke a cigarette, someone was clearing out their truck, by the opening in the gate that leads to employee parking. The picture became less & less appealing to me and I began to have reservations about U.S. Xpress.
As the 3rd day of orientation I was issued a Tractor that looked like it had just been driven from Hede's by the Devil himself. There was no way I was driving this trashy unworthy vehicle thru any DOT scalehouse and immediately protested with the Service Manager, but was told they had no more trucks.. Their yard was full of empty trucks!
I went back to the Orientation personnel and explained to them what went on with no effect and handed them the tractor keys and all materials received in orientation.
Thank God I drove my own vehicle to orientation and proceeded home after 3 days of lost wages, but this was just the beginning of my nightmare.

About a week later I started receiving bills from U.S. Xpress about money they think I owe them. What nerve! I payed for my own transportation to orientation and now they want to try and charge me for the hotel charges, something that was never agreed to.
On top of that I have over 10 years of experience with no accident or tickets, with a 7 year MVR that has zero points, but since I left them, I have not been able to join on with any trucking company. Currently I am awaiting my DAC and have consulted my attorney, with every intention of taking them into court if there are any derogatory comments on it.
Listen. I know that alot of truck drivers always think things will be better a new company, but if you have a good head on your shoulders, take this warning seriously.. Avoid this Trucking company at all costs!

I feel sorry for Trey and his predicament and understand exactly what he's talking about and going through!

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Still haven't said what the felony was for ??

AUTHOR: Roadslave - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, August 10, 2008

I worked for U S for a while , 8 mos to be exact . Got badly hurt by a falling wall of freight while unloading a trailer at a dollar tree . A little over two months on my back and they took very good care of me . When I got my release from my doctor I quit because I didn't want to unload any more of that freight . I shouldn't have , but I did . Anyway , 2 years later they contacted me about a dedicated spot on the dail tile contract , sounded great , right money , I-35 to the East , ( I live in PA ) , so sign me up what do I do ?

Not wanting to spend 16 - 18 hrs on a bus doing what I could drive in 7 , I drove myself , with the understanding that they would at least reimburse me the cost of the bus ticket towards my fuel getting there . I showed , lived in that d**n " BUNK HOUSE " for 4 days , and in the last waning moments I get a call from my recruiter telling me that I couldn't have the job they had offered , but OTR was still an option . I thanked her for her help , collected my gear , and went home . They paid me for orientation and the price of the bus ticket as promised . A year later I was at orientation for JB in Jersey and they tell me I missed a " JOB " on my app . What job ??? They said you worked for U S Xpress for 4 days a year ago . I explained what happened in Medway and that I never fully completed orientation , which washed , and when I asked them how in the world did you know I had been there they said , " it was on your DAC " .

So its there , get your own free copy and find out . Your allowed one every 12 months . Just go to USIS' web site and get the form . As for the felony , theres a section of the app that asks if you have ever been charged , tried , or convicted of any crime . Thats period . They may have dropped the charges , but you were still arrested and charged with a crime and you didn't disclose it . Not good . None of the big companies like stuff like that . In '93 I got a DUI here in Pa , got ARD as a first timer and finally had my record cleared . But , the 60 day license suspension still shows on my MVR , so I make sure to tell them about it 15 years after the fact , even though they only ask about a shorter time than that . Both so they will know I am doing my best to be as honest with them upfront , and to let them know I can't cross the border . I

t has worked for me all this time . You should have told them up front you got hooked up and maybe then they could have worked with you . Also , convicted or not , theres just some things no company will make exceptions for , and you didn't say what your allegeded offense was to start with . Either way , good luck .
