I was looking for work and USA Truck, through Driver Solutions decided to recruit me and made the deal that USA truck would pay the tuition at C1 driver training as long as I did not quit school or quit work before working for one whole year.  I pulled my end of the bargain and worked as strong as I could.  After 7 weeks they deliberately failed me in the upgrade test and REFUSED to give me the nominal extended training period which again is at a flat rate, they also refused to give me training where I would work with out pay.   They set me up the whole time and I now believe that my training at C1 was inadequate. There was

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Bad Review

AUTHOR: Hexxes - ()

POSTED: Sunday, April 07, 2013

As an ex-employee of USA Truck and a driver trainer of two years, I can guarantee the fault was with this students inability to control the vehicle.  USA Truck invests a ton of money into a student's development. Hotels, orientation, food, student pay, driver trainer pay. Money they do not get back if they do not employ the student full time. Governments provide stipends to the school for getting them thier liscence and to a trucking company once they are full time employees but not for just taking them into training.  When a driver trainer fails a student, the student is paired with another driver trainer. If the second driver trainer fails the student, then the student is evaluated by a safety instructor to determine if the student can be saved.  The same care is given to students who are passed by the driver trainer. The student goes in for upgrade and is given a road test by a safety instructor looking for the student to demonstrate safe behaviors and good control. If more training is needed then they go back out with another driver trainer.  The only way to be booted without further chances is to crash or put the general public at serious risk.

Additionaly Dave Turner personaly helped my wife when she joined USA Truck and had a poor quality trainer and bad training experience. It was Dave who instituted the policy where driver trainers sit right seat for at least two weeks before a student can start team driving, just to make sure students had a more attention from thier trainers. Dave Turner no longer works with USA Truck because he took another job.  Now USA does have it's issues. Low miles and bad business decisions being among them. However I believe USA to be an exceptionaly company to get your training and driving eperience. They are doing everything they can to retain drivers and students alike, even some I don't think are worth keeping.
