After being a USAA customer and avid supporter for nearly 50 years, I have to ask what has happened to this once customer friendly bank. While traveling to Reno, Nevada from California, as we do every year, USAA Savings Bank stopped honoring valid charges applied to our credit card. USAA felt the charges were fraudulent and shut down the card without first notifying us. We were left with no way to pay our hotel or meal expenses. I called USAA to see what had caused this but the phones were busy for over 20 minutes. Eventually the card was reactivated but the damage had been done. The hotel and restaurants kept us on a cash only basis and we were treated as second class citizens. This was an anniversary trip and my wife and I were totally humiliated. My two married daughters also have USAA cards and the same thing has happened to them. The USAA Fraud Prevention Unit is not preventing fraud but running off customers. What happened to USAA. Finally, we are texted by USAA that they suspect fraud when we buy groceries at our local market or even buy gasoline. We once attempted to buy a new PC and the merchant said the charge had been declined by USAA, I guess more suspected fraud. Our credit card is becoming useless and totally unreliable. What happened to USAA?
