With about 1 foot of water in the house, they will include some doors, but not others (claiming that they open and close). There were toxins in the flood waters!
They won't include my front or back entrances because they "saw no debris" when they RE-inspected the house 5 months later. Duh, boys! Would you live for 5 months with crud on your steps??!
I could go on, but what bothers me is that I'm just a little homeowner, and I've caught some omissions and errors already. But this is my first house, and my first flood. I'm not an expert, so I have no idea what else should be included, and if the pricing is correct.
All winter long, all I could do to correct the damage to my home is to spray the floors and walls once a week with straight bleach to keep mold and mildew from growing. (And I have animals who have been getting sick to boot. Not to mention strange rashes on myself.)
I need help. I'm being ripped off, I'm sure, but don't know how to battle the big-bad-insurance company.

No company is perfect, USAA is as close as they get.

This is a good company that is continually ranked #1 or #2 in customer service. Sure, they get it wrong once in awhile, but I saw how they took care of their customers after Hurricane Ivan because I did alot of the rebuilding work. Almost everyone I encountered who was a USAA member was very happy with the company.
My homeowner's premium has more than doubled in the past five years, but I'm still exceedingly fortunate compared to others I know. I'm paying $1200 per year for my hurricane/other perils coverage whereas other companies are cancelling policies or charging THOUSANDS more for the same coverage. I live in Florida, BTW.
Get that drywall and wet insulation out of you house, ASAP! Good luck.

Criminal Enterprise???

A criminal enterprise? Where is the proof? Sounds like a case of sour grapes to me. Or another idiotic French conspiracy theory.

USAA is a criminal enterprise
AUTHOR: Robert - (France)
SUBMITTED: Thursday, November 11, 2004
But: the pure and simple fact of the matter is that Robert G. Davis operates a sophisticated criminal enterprise which abuses its so-called "members", terrorizes its employees, and sends out private investigators to intimidate policyholders who complain "too much".

USAA is good to go

Damaged caused by flooding is usually bold face excluded in a regular home owners policy. You can add a "rider" or endorsement for some very limited coverge. Most mortgage companies / banks will require the homeowner to purchase flood insurance from FEMA. That is where the major portion of flood losses are paid.

No problems ever with USAA
AUTHOR: John - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Saturday, September 25, 2004
Everytime I have had a problem or a question USAA quickly and professionally took care of the issue.
I have seen in other reports about USAA sending a survey to update information. The people posting the report called it an invasion of their privacy. The items on this survey do affect the rates you will pay, thus they ask for updates. If you are not hiding something then I can't see why anyone is complaining about completing the form and sending it back in.
Just my .02 cents worth. I, for one, will stay with USAA.

USAA Has Been Nothing But Wonderful. told by MWI Connections that we waited too long .
AUTHOR: Larissa - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Monday, August 23, 2004
We were told by MWI Connections that we waited too long to have the charges removed, but USAA removed all 4 months' worth of charges without question, and they've filed fraud charges against the offending company.
USAA has been wonderful, and I can't imagine having a better insurance company.
At one point, I got booted out for a period of 3 years because of 3 accidents within 6 months. They placed me with Progressive which was also delightful to deal with but I was soooooooooo happy to be taken back into their fold after this time.
After Hurricane Andrew in Miami, '92 THEY CALLED ME! to see if they could be of assistance in any way and extremely quickly took care of all our insurance needs, this, in spite of the biiiig hit they took with military families at Homestead AFB who lost everything. They've been nothing but polite, friendly, genuinely symphathetic, and helpful to me in all my dealings with them and I cant say enough good about this fine orginization which to me always seems more like I'm dealing with friends than a company.

I have recieved nothing but exceptional service
AUTHOR: Aubury L. - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Tuesday, October 21, 2003
This includes my homeowners insurance, automobile insurance for four automobiles and a bank loan and checking account.
As with all insurance companies, USAA (and me, as a member) loses many thousands of dollars per year on "Cheaters". As far as we aree concerned, USAA is too liberal and easy in granting claims.
I, as a member of USAA, am happy that USAA takes a hard line on some strange looking claims!
The one guy, with the trailer broken into, really has some bad luck since everyone in the world is against him, including the police department....COME ON!!
Just glad they aren't members anymore so I can start getting more of a rebate each year! Yes, USAA DOES pay rebates to certain members (those who are accident free) and we LOVE USAA.
