The day before a representitive called and told us the trailer was available and was at our nearest uhaul dealer (the one that said you could not researve until 24 hours before) When we arrived that morning we were told no trailer was there but heard a story of how a rude gentleman they were forced to rent to by thier head office took it before we arrived. They story was told over and over with every unrepeatable word that was used by both parties. I don't have the cleanest mouth but no customer of mine would hear those words.
So the "manager" with his untucked shirt and feet up on his "desk" made some calls to complain to his head office. Not helping us locate a trailer or other possible vehicle. We gave him 5 minutes of repeating his "I'm on hold" and how rude they guy before was". He finally tracked a trailer down at a local garage/uhaul outlet. About a 15 minute drive. We arrived and had to admit the Man of about 20 was more helpful and friendly the the other 4 or 5 working at the orginal uhaul dealer put together. It did take a few minutes to get things organized and paid for. We were also told by this garage they were considering getting out of Uhaul because of how things were run and how many customers moving days are ruined by Uhauls rental policies.
It was also realized that the moving blankets we also required were not available at this location. We called the orginal location and told we would have to come back to pick them up. My girlfriend left to accomplish this while the garage staff came out to help hook the trailer to my Truck (they also threw in a light adaptor not charge). When she arrived at the other location nothing was asked or said about her getting the proper trailer or if the head office was ever contacted. They told her the blankets were at the door, not even a offer to help load them into the car. They told us that we also had to return the blankets to that location and the trailer to origin of pick up. When we requested a number to contact and file a complaint we were told that they would not give us that information until after we had returned everything and that they would file one on our behalf!!! like we trusted them to do that.
On a pleasent note since the garage was closed the following day we were told we could have the trailer for 48 hours for only 24 hours payed. So we did get the use out of it and made up for lost time that uhaul caused us!!
