In December 2007, I bought , and paid $1,800 cash for, a five-braided gold bracelet for my trophy wife. I have the cash receipt.
In April 2010, one of the gold braids had broken / unwound, so I brought the bracelet to Underwoods for repair. I was told that that particular type of bracelet had done that before, that it needed to go back to Italy for repair, that such were usually done on warranty, but that if there were a problem, I would be contacted and given an estimate repair cost.
About June 25, Jim Hamilton from Underwood's called to say that the bracelet was back from Italy and repaired, ready to be picked up, but that it would cost me $950 ! He said that they "can't warranty things forever" and claimed that I had not fully paid for the bracelet initially, despite my cash receipt.
I asked to speak to his supervisor, but he said that he doesn't report to anyone because he is a vice-president. He is holding my bracelet for $950.

Literally the third day after I mailed Underwood's Jewelers a copy of the Ripoff Report I made on them, I got a call from Underwood's saying that I could pick up my repair for the cost of postage to Italy, $15. They were all of a sudden gracious enough to waive the phony $950 charge they initially demanded. Thank You, Ripoffreport. MJD
