ex-employee, they wanted to rip-off customers
AUTHOR: David - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Tuesday, November 16, 2004
POSTED: Tuesday, November 16, 2004but in regards to ripping off customers, i do have first hand knowlegde of this matter.
i was first hired by united air comfort, from the arlington texas office by an ad in the paper, saying a/c techs wanted no experiece neccesary, will train.
well i was hired and found out that it was a duct cleaning company. if you were not certified if hvac they would get you certified by giving the test answers, and a small training class to get you by in the field.
the rip-off scam wasn't as obvious in the arlington texas office, it was questionable, but the liability could be passed on to the employee if a problem arose, they covered their tracks pretty good.
the obvious scam was when me and a handfull of other employees were sent to detroit michigan shortly after 9/11 tragedy. we were supposidly sent to train a bunch of new recruits being hired. so they flew us up to detroit michigan.
we started working out of that office training new hires. well ends up most texas workers have never delt with much less even seen some of the heating systems they have up north, ex. gravity fed furnaces.
well after a while, the managers in that office were specifically telling employees how to cheat customers out of money by telling them the systems they had needed to be replaced. one way they said was to tell them, the customers, that their furnice had leaks, carbon monoxide, and that if they didn't change or buy a new system they would die. how they show the customers that they had carbon monoxide leaking into their house was by using a freon leak detector, and setting the dial so low it always emitted a beep.
another example of bad business up there was when i took a call for a gravity furnice not working right, when i got out to the house and assesed the problem i call the manager and he said to take the parts off that he knew where to get replacement parts. but i insisted he be sure before i started the work. he reasured me he did, so i reasured the customer, and she okayed the work, well needless to say the manager lied, they did not even make that part anymore, united air then told the lady she was going to have to buy a new furnice, which would end up costing over 20,000 dollars, (removal of the old furnace, disposal of the asbestose, and the instalation of a new one). of course who can really afford that, i told the manager we had to fix her old one somehow. they blew it off.
well i ended up working on that furnace for two weeks on my own time, hunting down anything and anybody that might have some info on it,and spending my own money. finally got it working for her. she was happy with my work, but not with united air, who repeatedly ignored her calls.
so i finished the job, said have a nice day, and to never call united air again, and to warn everybody she knows

POSTED: Thursday, August 28, 2003I would recommend that if United company is peoples choice, dont pay them, and contact your attorney first if they do anything to your air condition.heat, furnace, either get the money back from them,or go to small claims action.
Until consumers are protected, these get rich schemes from these con artists will flourish.
The states hands are tied, the courts have to terminate them, A multiple state class action needs to be done, because these and others like them are making millions off public interest.
