I immediately called the number he left and and asked the rep what the name of the company was and what they did. She said they call for all types of things and she needed to look up my account to see where to send me. I gave it to her and she said she couldn't find it. I explained that my name and part of my ssn were used in a very threatening message from this company and them not having my suspected account didn't make sense. She put me on hold for 5 minutes then a male comes on and takes the account number again. He repeats that it must be a mistake to which I play the message for him that I received. He immediately goes into basically repeating the message saying they had a case against me. I ask the guy is he seriously retarded. They have yet to explain to me who the heck they are and what case they have against me and they just claimed they didn't have my account then when he hears the message he dives right in to trying to collect,. He finally quickly says they are calling in reference to a pay day loan.
Now I work for a collection agency and immediately knew that this company was off its rockers to allow its employees to collect a debt in this manner. #1 they left a very detailed message about a debt a general voice mail that didn't identify me by name. Collection agencies can't do that. #2 they pretended to be affiliated with a court or police agency and threatened to come to my job. For what. Its a payday loan. They can't arrest me they can't garnish me and even if they wanted to it would have to go to court. the have no affiliation to any enforcement agency. #3 they are lying saying I committed fraud simply because i didnt pay a debt. I took this loan out with my name my ssn my bank info. Where is the fraud,, #4 when I called them they never once gave me the required mini miranda which states they are a debt collector attempting to collect a debt. I ended the conversation and do you know they calle permission d me 5 more times hanging up after it rang twice each time. I immediately googled them and saw all the horror stories about this travesty of a company. Employees outing each other in public online. Upper management chiming in to expose a former employee. Even going so far as to put the person's phone number and address on this very site. This company and its employees seem to have no morals or ethics whatsoever. Its disgusting.
Fast forward a few days, I'm gathering my evidence which includes the voicemail and what happened when I call and my ex mother in law calls me out the blue. She tells me she has received a very scary message from a man looking for me saying I am avoiding him and committing fraud and I need to call immediately. I haven't spoken to this woman in years and obviously wouldn't use her as a reference in a loan application so they are calling nearby s which I believe also violates fdcpa. You can't discuss debt with a 3rd party without from the borrower. Then this whole fraudulent thing they keep saying. The audacity. I plan to sue the pants off this worthless company and everyone there who is doing this horrible shady collecting should be fired.

Collection Agencies Are Becoming More Ruthless.

Well, ProCollect started calling my out of state elderly parents and threatening them and harrassing them. They would call numerous times and either hang up or ask for me and when she asked who was calling they would lie and say they were a temp agency. She is with AT&T and she was able to trace the calls right back to them. I filed a complaint with the state's attorney general office and the manager from ProCollect lied like they had never called. But my mom has her phone records proving they did. My parents never cosigned for me. They were my emergency contacts on my application only.
Well, fast forward several months and I got a phone in my mom's name. My mom doesn't owe anyone. Well, as soon as the phone became active I started getting harrassing calls from a collection agency. The phone wasn't even in my name but somehow they had started tracing my mom's whereabouts as well as mine. Probably other family members too. They don't care. They will harrass anyone now. They will harrass your siblings, parents, aquaintances, and I once heard a man say his neighbors were being harrassed. They do this to both try to humiliate a person into paying and frighten them into paying. These people don't care.
