I found out that the people who work for this company is very dishonest, unethical, and immoral. To sum it all up, they are con artists.
On 6-15-12 my air conditioning was not cooling properly so I called universal Air & Heat to install freon in my system.
When the worker arrived and checked my system, he told me that I also needed to get my coils clean. I agreed to have the work done because I did not have my coils clean in a while. I also had 2 pounds of freon put inside my unit. (So I was told). My total come up to $475.00, which I paid.
Three days later, 6-18-12, my air condition was not cooling the house like it should. Warm air was coming from the vents. I immediately call Universal Air & Heat to let them know about the problem. They told me they will send the same worker back
the next day to see what the problem was. I was told by the worker that I had 30 days warranty on my service.
That same evening, 6-18-12, I found out my thermostat was on fan which explained why I was not getting cold air. I did not call to cancel the appointment.
The following morning, 6-19-12, my air condition was cooling fine because I knew not to place the thermostat on fan.
Later that day, 6-19-12, when worker came to my house, I told him I had figured out the problem and now my air works fine. I had also recently arrived home so I did not had time to turn on my air condition system. Thus, my house was warm. He insisted that he needed to go at the back of my house to check my air condition unit. When he returned, he told me that I got hot air because there is a wire that is burnt and detached and it need to be replace and my air condition unit is not working. He also said it will cost me $150.00 to replace the wire.
Knowing that the worker was lying and was trying to con me out of 150.00, I immediately disagreed with him because earlier that same day before I went out, my air condition worked fine.
I told him if he detached any wire on my unit, he needs to reattach it because I am not paying any money to fix something that does not need fixing. When he saw that I was defiant and threaten to report his dishonesty, he got on the phone and called his boss.
I then decided to call the company to complain. The boss was already aware of the situation and began to defend his worker. He also hanged up the phone in the middle of me telling him about my situation and because I did not agree with his speculation about what my situation was. He was very rude and disrespectful.
To the public: beware of this company because they are going to try and swindle money out of you for services that you dont need.
