We were also sold on their processing service that was suppose to save us alot of money. The only thing that we saved on was the rate, but that has also gone up since we signed. They also don't mention all the fees!!!

As soon as our contract is up I will be switching but I will still be stuck with the equipment lease on a pin pad. I will have paid over $900.00 on a piece of equipment that you can buy for about $125.00. The salesman says that even with the equipment costs you still save money. (Don't think so!)

#1 Consumer Comment

Small Claims Merchant Services, Inc.

AUTHOR: Magsster - (U.S.A.)

This company is very very deceiving I think that is why they selected a company for financing in the state of NY so they can just blame them for the problems that they don't want to fix. After their sales agent gets just one signature you are out of over 4000.00 and more for the processing fees

They ripped me off again.

AUTHOR: Theresa - (U.S.A.)

I finished our term agreement and they still debited $495.00 and then another $295.00 calling them termination fees. I don't even use them anymore and they could still debit money out of our account.
So I'm right there is anyone has filed a civil suit. I've contacted my bank's fraud department and also filed with the FTC. So let's see what happens. Typically I would call that stealing.

Universal Merchant Services is very deceptive, watch out!

AUTHOR: Theresa - (U.S.A.)

No that we have finished the term period of our contract, I sent them a letter (required as stated on contract) to let them know that we would not be renewing with them. So they came back and said that they could switch me with Chase Wholesale Program and give me the rates and services that we deserve.......AND THERE WOULD BE NO TERM EXTENSION! So I stayed with them, big mistake. They raised the rates in 2 months, ALOT! So I sent them a cancellation letter as they requested. Now, 2 months later they took $495.00 term fee from out of our bank account. Just took it with no notification and we didn't even have a term period.

#4 Consumer Suggestion

Lydia - Costa Mesa, California

AUTHOR: Judith - (U.S.A.)

I too own a busines and still is. I believed in 1994 or 1995. I was approached by a sales manager of universal card merchant Located in Annandale Virginia his name was D. Brown the speech and the deal was good deal with the Mach. This is a true story no less no more...please do not say I did not read the contact both sided etc.

We agreed to the fee he said that the machine I will be leasing it from them also, because I asked him that to make sure.He used all universal merchant forms. He put the price that we agreed and left the other area blank that doesn't apply to our discussion. So,I signed the buttom of the form and he left to make a long story short.

One month later my first bill arrived is not from Universal Merchant is from the leasing company in New York and the prices is a lot higher than what D. Brown and I agreed in our meeting.

I called the leasing office and asked them questions about those charges and asked who are they? She told me that was the price in my contract that I signed. So, I asked her to fax that contract to me and I found out that the copy of the contract that D Brown forwarded to them was different than what I have.

He filled all the blank spot that we left blank because is not apply to me and he copy my Signature but he was not that good because he doesn't know what letters I put in my signature. They sent me fraud form to filed.

I went to my bank get signature guarantee notarized it etc.too much time wasted and headache that I am honest person and this scambug walked in to my door and gave me a good speech and turn around and cheated. I even go to their office in Annandale to see the manager Antonio wasn't helpfull at all.

Anyway I won the case the leasing office in New York agreed that my signature and his copy of the contract are not the same there are similarity but is 100% not mine. The leasing company voided my contract refunded me with the extra fees the person from that fraud Dept. in that leasing office told me one thing that we need to and must do" VEVER LEAVE ANY SPACE ON ANY CONTRACT FORMS BLANK EVEN IF IT DOESN'T APPLY TO US WE MUST CROSS IT OUT OR WRITE ANYTHING ON IT" Otherwise it is open for the thift like D. Brown.and I returned the machine D. Brown rushed in my store and grabed the Mach. without saying anything no appology etc. and they did not fire him I believed that is how he was trained.

I thought I can sleep well after that I thought it was really over for good.

In 2002 I got a letter from the leasing company in New York telling that I owed them money for the leased of the machine from the 1995.

I had to digged my paperworks to find that released from them from 1995 and sent it to them then they wrote me that I was write that it was closed and never said sorry for the inconvenient. Universal Merchant still call me from time to time I always told them to looked at in their computer to see what is my experience from them.

This is my true story I am not saying all employees in that company are bad.

That all depends on what the customers will say about you when they read your rebutal unfortunately that sad truth always come out.

Lydia you have been busy!!

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

Lydia wrote:
"I have been an agent with Universal for several years"

Thats interesting "Lydia" because "Merchant Services" hasnt referred to itself as "Universal" in a couple of years.

What is your real name, "Lydia"?
Why do you hide behind a falee identity?
I am Bob and I am not lying about my name or location.

" I recently moved out of state and am retiring with my husband."

After years of lies and deception I dont blaem you for going on the lamb.

"I can tell you without a doubt that Merchant Services does the best job of listing all of their possible charges right there in black and white on the contract as well as the comparison you were most likely given by your sales associate."

True it is on the contract but you are completely lying when you say "on the comparison".
The comparison DOES NOT LIST all of the fees and you are either intentionally lying or you are not really an account executive.
You sound more like one of the telemarketers.
Are you on drugs, probation, or parole?

"The schedule of fees page clearly indicates all the charges that can be charged for anything which you must have initialed to have been approved. These fees are not hidden. They may be fees that you don't like, but if you don't like them, you need to complain to Visa and MasterCard for the way they charge your transactions. I guarantee if you actually read the contract you signed and look at the schedule of fees, you will see that all of these "hidden fees" are NOT hidden at all."

YES THERE ARE HIDDEN FEES AND YOU ARE AGAIN EITHER INTENTIONALLY LYING OR MERELY A TELEMARKETER.
They are hit with fees from the leasing company THAT ARE NOT CLEARLY STATED!!

I love this next paragraph by "Lydia"
I will explain how much of a vile and disgusting person she is after:

"As a 9 year veteran in this industry, I hear this every day. If you make the mistake of signing the contract without knowing what you are signing, you can only blame yourself when something you don't like comes up. If you have questions about some charges on the contract, ask the rep. If the rep cannot answer the questions, that should be a red flag that maybe this rep isn't worth signing up with."

To put is simply what "Lydia" and others do is become friendly and trusting with the merchants.
This is all false and smoke and mirrors.
The REAL HOPE by developing this trust is that while they have the merchant sign the paperwoker the rep "explains" the fees and plant lies, half truths, and deception around the fees that they hope that the merchant does not notice.
They use and abuse the most sacred thing one person can have with another, trust.
They turn this trust into the hopes that a merchant signs an expensive lease.

What "Lydia" is now doing is what a prostitute does after the hour is done and the money has exchanged hands.

This is the next paragraph where she justifys her deceptions, lies, and half truths:
"The sad truth of this business nowadays is that if you had an honest rep, who told you verbally what all the possible charges were and explained the contract and your responsibilities as a merchant, you would send him packing and find one who would lie to you and tell you all the things you want to hear, while hiding all the things you don't want to hear. You can't get the service and equipment for nothing and that is what everybody wants these days."

She is basically calling most merchants "dumb"
Why are you being so disrespectful and rude to people who have WORKED HARD to own a business, "Lydia"?

Lets talk a look at Merchant Services"
1) They hire drug addicts and criminals AND THE OWNER OF THE COMPANY ACKNOWLEGES THIS ON A REGULAR BASIS.
2) They perform NO BACKGROUND CHECK
3) These people are calling merchants and collecting info that these criminals could then use to commit crimes such as identity theft, credit card fraud, etc etc etc,

Now you have a snot nosed brat like "Lydia" coming along and calling merchants dumb.
Keep in mind that Merchant Service WILL HIRE ANYBODY!!!

So "Lyida" why do you lie so much?

Again "Lydia" keeps on trying to justify her lying, deception and half truths:
"The bottom line is that there are something like 148 buckets of interchange that your transactions can fall into. It would be impossible for any sales level representative to go into all of these for you in detail and you would never understand it all anyway. If you want to simplify, complain to Visa and MasterCard directly, and good luck with that! They own the world and just allow us to live in it."

How patheic and sad.
Do you have no shame "Lydia"?

"Furhtermore, I would like to comment on the coments that "Robert in Lake Forest" made. He was terminated due to lack of production and he could not sell. He was very upset with his managers and thus the slander on this report. This company has been around for over 10 years, has over 250 national sales professionals and the owners are wonderful, HONEST people. It is unfortuante that an ex-employee has to lie about their old company to make themselves feel good."

I think I have made my position on this clear. I was not fired or let go, I quit.
"Lydia" is lying about this and she koows it but choses to hide behind a name that is false anyway.

I wonder what name "Lydia" will return with next?
Fifth-Third bank CUT ALL TIES with Jason Moore and Merchant Services after MANY MANY merchants began to complain to Fifth Third bank about the deceptions and lies carried on by Jason Moore and ALOT of the reps from Merchant Services.

Hey Theresa

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

What was the name of the rep who you signed up with?
When did you sign the lease?
If it was "Merchant Services" out of Irvine, they have a long history of being deceptive.
The owner of the company will tell you that half the people working for him are either on probation, parole, etc.

If it is the Irvine location then you should know that Fifth-Third Bank cut all ties with them over their deceptive practices.
