University Of Phoenix (UoP) UoP Deceptive Enrollment Counsellors, Scandalous Financial Aid Department, No Access to Decision Makers Internet

It sounds like you were confused, and perhaps were not correctly understanding what your enrollment and finance counselors were telling you. Often times, paper handling is processed by a department within the university that exists solely to process your financial aid paperwork.

First, your financial aid funding is for educational purposes ONLY, as your enrollment counselor told you. If you were relying upon those funds for something other than tuition and text books, sorry sweet cheeks, that's your screw up.

In additional, financial aid processing is reliant upon your paperwork being received in a timely manner. Funds cannot be certified if, say, your verification paper work is late. So if you didn't send in signed copies of your taxes or finish your verification worksheet, again, sorry doll, that's your screw up.

Also, "that class costed me $407"? REALLY? COSTED?!

I enrolled in UOP/Axia and had my first financial officer who would not return an email or phone call. Then six months later after my finances were messed up and way too many calls to count, they gave me a new financial advisor who just wanted money out of pocket from me. Now that I have withdrew, the amount has gone higher even though they had money from my loans left over. Where the money has gone is a good question to ask if an advisor would actually answer the questions. Not everyone has bad problems with this so-called University but I can almost guarentee that the complaints are so over whelming that a good lawyer could make a fortune because of it!!!

After reading your post, it appears that UOP was not the school of choice for you. The school already provides the students w/ enough resources (e.g. computers, online library, instructors, learning teams) for them to complete their assignments. In my opinion, what it boils down to is the amount of time the student is willing to invest on improving themselves. You really have to be disciplined and committed if you want to finish the program, no one is going to hold your hand and there will be obstacles in your way. Most graduates I know from UOP were working parents w/ full time careers trying to better themselves so they can receive a promotion or bump in pay. It's sad how many Americans in this country don't have a college degree, in California less than 15% percent of the people hold college degrees - which means there are a lot of idiots walking our streets. School is not for everyone, and if you aren't mature enough to meet deadlines and spend a hour or two on assignments - then you should do something else.

I do not understand how so many people on here have had trouble with UOP. I enrolled in UOP in june 08 and have never had any assignments "go mssing". The worst problem I had was; due to the fact that I enrolled right before the award yeard ended i could only be eligible for half of that years pell grant. UOP did not get the other half, The government still has it. As for getting my disbursement on time; yes you can get it in six weeks. I know because I did. I do know that my friend who also enrolled ended up being selected for verification and it ended up taking her about 30 extra days to get hers. The truth is the money is being distributed so we can live a little easier, not so we do not have to work at all. It is not meant for a person to live off of. It is nice to get that check in the mail; but it is not one you should count on, because as with all businesses things can take extra time. I am a mother of two, and still have a 3.98 GPA. My friend is a mother, a full-time night shift employee, and still maintains a 3.5 GPA.
