Search TipsWhile I am not a big fan of UOP. Just read some of their other more valid complaints and you will see why. But even they have standards. When you are in school you are making a commitment that you will complete the assignments and papers when due. It wasn't like you were in the hospital or had some family emergency. You went away to go to a 2nd Birthday party.
People who seek higher education have to make decisions between study and things such a vacations. If you can do both..great. But if you can't do both it is totally on you for any consequences. It would be unfair to the others in your class if you think you should get a special exception when you fail to meet deadlines.
If you take anything away from this, be glad that it happened now where you can take this as a learning experience. Because imagine you did something like this when you were teaching. Where let's say you just didn't show up to work for a couple of days.
You would most likely be fired. Oh, you say that you wouldn't do something like that because you know you are supposed to be at work. Well that just proves the point, because if you treated this class in the same way and with the same importance you wouldn't be in this situation.
So, how much class did you miss? How many assignments? In regards to your GPA, the repeated course would typically replace the flunked course in the computation of your GPA. Did you ask your advisor about this?
Also, you would probably benefit from taking another English class. Your ability to articulate the issues doesn't really sound like someone with a college degree, and certainly not like that of someone who should be teaching young children.
