And how can I forget about RLC's server problems? Sometimes the damn thing goes down several times a day. I've gotten booted off at random times. Sometimes I've entered a room and I couldn't see the furniture. There was one time when I went into Merlin's cafe and saw only one guy sitting on mid-air. No joke. The entire room was empty of furniture and people except for this guy. There were other times when people would just randomly disappear.
All in all this program is poorly advertised and even more poorly maintained. People are made to think the point is virtual sex only to learn otherwise once they've signed up. Then they're left to deal with the constant server problems.

After 6 years?

Utherverse or RLC (red light centre) has been running for almost 7 years now, i myself am a member for the last 2 years going on 2 and a half. I find it ludicrous that a site in operation such as this is still in "Beta" stage. My esteemed friend posting above, some 3 years ago made some valid points. You do need a very good graphics card and high amount of memory to run this client.
However, with industry standards of the year 2012 being far ahead of what was considered high performance in the year 2009 is old slow and obsolete today. Yet its a major shock with computers being so much more advanced today the software client (utherverse) fails still to perform anywhere near as impressively as the modern PC games and titles coming out which have graphics far superior to the very dated and poor quality that utherverse still uses. I cannot account for how a modern PC still cannot perform very well on this dated client and its graphics.
Seven years on, utherverse still hold onto its "Beta" tag, makes me simply believe that they are using the status of Beta as an excuse not to provide a decent experience for its users, make no mistake even the best machines perform so woefully when running utherverse, I myself have a moderate machine by todays standards, capable of running the most recent titles smoothly, yet the performance in this client is woeful to say the least. After 7 years almost, there are zero signifant improvements to the visual quality or demands on machines, yet despite the capabilities of the hardware we use today it still is a poor experience.
The platform is marketed as a "sex site, where you can be free of inhabitions, nothing is illegal as far as drugs go etc etc" all this information is clearly visible on the CEO Brian Shuster's profile which i cannot access at this present time as the utherverse servers all seem to be down. The longer one is here the more apparent it is as any business the site is about making money through the exchange of vitual currency "rays". The market place is an unfair one, with value controlled within and by the company itself, no outside or internal sector can influence this value as in real world market places. The value is constant, there is only manipulation to by the company to keep it that way.

What's best is to give your system a minute after arriving to settle in, then move on. Some of the clubs are very graphic intensive requiring a LOT of RAM to run smoothly, so when you go in, it can be a problem if you are already loaded up in memory. Some people's Zaby's are very elaborate, and depending on how they have set them up, can also be taxing on the system (NOTE: Its better to keep your props NON-collideable when you are building, unless you really need it to be).
As far as profiles are concerned, I expect people to be who they claim to be. I'm not into role-playing, and not many of the people I've met on RLC are either. Most of the ones doing the role-play that I've met have been on the nutty side. You get some real strange ones. The role I play is essentially myself. Someone you can count on to have your back, and to give you good counsel, and to give you her heart when she can. A musician, a teacher, a philosopher, a lover to some...
Yes, sometimes there are times that the server goes down. But that's not that often anymore. Things continue to get better everyday. Except the newbies who continue to be rude and demanding... lol... And the drama queens...
As far as Merlin's is concerned, maybe the reason you saw what you saw is because you had some of those mushrooms? You were trippin'? I've been in Merlin's several times, never had any problems. Except when I'm trippin', lol...
Outsiders need to understand that RLC has cyber drinks and drugs available for partying, where your avatar can actually walk up to a Hookah and smoke it, or a tray of pills and take one (or more) or a basket of colorful mushrooms and eat some... Little buttons at the bottom allow you to "Smoke"/"Drink"/"Take"/"Eat", get Tipsy, High, Trip Out, and Sober Up...
When you are "tripping," the graphics get weird, you see traces... When you are "drunk," you get wobbly...
So anyway, its a lot of fun. But it requires a system that does graphics well.
