Beware of this Satellite TV deception, This company offers a "promotional first time customer offer" of free installation and 3 free months of satellite TV for $49.99, the offer states in tiny lettering "credit approval required"

I went ahead and applied submitting my credit card number and SS# via an internet site, I was under the impression that since they were requesting this information, that a credit check was being done at that time, my credit card was debited $49.99 and I received a message saying, "Congratualations..." as if my credit had been approved and I was all set to go.

I received a certificate in the mail and a weird letter, saying just call this number for your installation, you will be asked for your credit card and SS# again ??? why ??? when calling this number I was told that I did not qualify for the offer but I may buy the equipment for $200.00 !!! + my original $49.99 which they alraedy had.

they stated that my credit score was too low, but would not tell me what it was supposed to be, as most people know a credit score is not an accurate or exclusive method of determining credit worthiness as it changes day to day, and is really only a general estimation. So why didn'y they do all this BEFORE they took my money ??

After calling and speaking to many phone reps, most of whom had no idea what was going on, getting several different stories about the offer from different people, I said this is BS and reported this whole foolish situation to the Better Business Bureau and sent back my "certificate" requesting a refund.

By the number of complaints against this company I see that i am not the only one who is displeased and disgusting with there crazy schemes, and the pathetic rebuttals I am reading. I think there is something seriously messed up with this company and they don't seem to care that people are not happy about it, as long as they can continue to trick you out of whayever they can get !!

This Rebuttal Speaks For Itself - POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

AUTHOR: Garland - ()

Dear David, I will assume that you are somehow involved with VMC satellite as an employee or have some other interest vested in this company.

As anyone can clearly see by your rude, insulting and disrespectful language and arrogant attitude this company is not concerned with customer service or how they may appear to the public.

I still feel that the whole deal with satelite TV is not worth the hassle, deception and complicated process of buying a certicicate from one company, getting a credit check from another and no one wants to take responsibility for the poor service.

If this deal was so clear and simple why the tiny writing and why don't they state clearly that you will not receive your entire 49.99 back if you are not approved ? Still your explanation of why it costs $10.00 to mail and "handle" a peice of paper does not make sense.

Your company is on this website becaise it is called THE RIPOFF REPORT, not the GREAT DEALS AND GOOD BUSINESS PRACTICES REPORT.

It was so much simpler to get cable ! No hassle, no silly certificates and no verbal insults from
company representatives. I pay my bill on time, enjoy digital cable TV and get as many channels as I need.

Open your eyes and read the website

AUTHOR: David - ()

I am so tired of seeing idiotic people like yourself place a bad image on a company just because you are not intelegent enough to read the contract when placeing a order online.

First off, you state that VMC asked for your SS# when you placed the order on the web, which is FALSE!. VMC does not even ask for your SS# when you pay for your activation , online, or on the phone, that is only done by Dish network, the , provider of the service, because ONLY they are the company that runs the credit check on you, which is CLEARLY stated in the Terms and Conditions on the web site. No where does it tell you, VMC will process a credit check, and that we approve or deny you for credit.
It also states that Dish network will require a credit check on you, the same as many other companies, such as satellite, cell phones, ect, and states exacly what you must do to get your refund, to return the instalation certificate you purchased for free install.

The certificate may seem "Just a piece of paper" tou you, but it's a very effeicent way to set up service and have your install done, and for Dish network to automaticly check to see if in fact you have allready paid for the promo we gave you.
VMC purchases the certificate from dish, and must pay for shipping of them, unpacking, inventory, of new certificate, and to ship returned certificates back to Dish network for a refund and pay their employees to do this. There are many other companies that do the same certificate program, Radio Shack is one of them.

The reason for the restocking fee, is many many many deadbeat customers who order have sorry credit, and if we were to not charge a restocking fee to those customers for cancling, VMC would be out a lot of money and manpower, for their efforts of setting that customer up, and then having to refund them. CC refunds cost a company money to process!! 95% of the angry customers that I speak to, are only angry because their credit is too bad to get the service, and dont want to spend any money to purchase the equipment, that doesnt require credit, which by the way is pretty cheap, under 200 bucks for a system.
They are angry that we dont tell them about the credit check, which we do, in the T&C, and if they bothered to place a phone call, and ask, we would tell them there is one when they order on the phone.

The Canclation fee they charge, is because they get paid a commition to set the custome up, and if that customer cancles within the year, GUESS WHAT??? Dish Network revokes the commition fee, and leaves them with nothing for their effots of setting that customer up. Just because the deadbeat cannot pay for his service for a year, shouldnt mean a company should work for free.

All this is stated on the web site, in the Terms and Conditions. If you read them, and sign up, then obviously you dont fine anything wrong with them, you only complain when your credit is rejected, and your pride is too hurt to purchase the equipment. I spoke to a woman today who boldly said she ignored the T&C, and shouldnt be required to read them, because she felt she allready knew them. Ignorance such as this is the reason for half of the compaints on here.

BTW, as of a month or so, VMC no longer requires a customer to return a paper certificate, since we now let the customer print out their own, and is isssued a refund within 72 hours if they choose to cancle before install. Most likely this is due to the reasoning that it takes too much time for us to explain to moronic customers the T&C and what to do for a refund. The credit check is the main complaint I get, which is nothing VMC can do about, I do not even support it, but that is Dish Networks rules, not VMC's, and they are the Company we work for.

Our T&C are no diff from any other companies, if you choose to read them. You purchase somthing, you dont return it, no refund, simple as that, it doesnt matter if you purchase a pack of gum, or a certificate, fi you feel it's worth the $49.99 you put up for it, obviously its more then Just a piece of paper to you.

It's an interesting fact that all the complements I get on customer service and support are from customers that PASS the credit check and are happy with their service, and not those that fail...

Update: VMC will not give you a full refund for the $49.99

AUTHOR: Garland - ()

Follow-up to the previous report: I returned the certificate to VMC and they will only refund me
$39.99 of my original $49.99 claiming that, they will not refund "shipping and handling charges"

Since when does it cost $10.00 to mail a letter ?

the last time I mailed a large envelope it only cost .83 cents.

WHAT A RIP-OFF, they made $10.00 off me, I received nothing but hassle
