I recently had an encounter with VMC Satellite of Fairfax, Virginia. I signed up over the Internet for Dish Network satellite service through VMC on 1/2/2002.

I called the very next day and cancelled my order 1/3/2002. I contacted them again on 1/19/2002 to check on the status and was advised to mail back the certificate with my individual record number on there.

I returned that item as requested on 1/21/2002. I contacted VMC on 1/30/2002 to inquire about the status of my cancellation. At that time I spoke with Kelly at extension 1235.

She then advised me that I needed to mail back a brown form. I never received a brown form from VMC and indicated this to Kelly. VMC has refused the credit me the $49.99 charged to my credit card even though I returned all items sent to me from VMC.

They insist that I need to send back a brown form, which I have never received. I requested this form to be sent to me but they refused to do that.

I wish to file a formal complaint against this company as a first step in getting my money refunded. I hope the FCC can provide assistance in resolving this complaint.

Follow-up on Better Business Bureau Complaints; responses from Michaul Lausten, Manager of VMC satellite

AUTHOR: Garland - ()

Complaint # 2 sent to the BBB, this time I included ALL of the complaints from victims of VMC Satellite posted here.

To date Michael Lausten, manager, has still not refunded my $10.00 which I received absolutely NOTHING for but a lot of BS and hassle.

His response; The rules for Shipping and handling charges have now been changed, I wonder why, maybe Mr. Lausten has realized that he and his company can no longer get away with ripping people off, apparently they are no longer keeping your $10.00. I think this is one small victory for the rip-off report.

In Mr. Laustens reply he claims that all of the comments posted here by individuals claiming to be and employee of VMC Satellite, "is not an employed by VMC Satellite and was never authorized to act on behalf of our company" this is a direct quote from his letter, so who are you people ? Apparently Mr. Lausten will have us beleive that these people are randomly claiming to be VMC Satellite employees just so they can post rebuttals of this web site ???

Or maybe, they really are (were) VMC Satellite employees who just got a little out of hand. Let the reader here be the judge.

Mr. Lausten, it is my opinion that you are not concerned with the truth only with making a dollar by swindling people and then fast talking your way out of it when caught in the act, sleazy.

VMC Satellite, INC has UNSATISFACTORY rating with the Better Business Bureau

AUTHOR: Garland - ()

Currently my dispute with VMC Satellite is in progress with the Better Business Buteau.

Just for the record and it should come as no surprise VMC Satellite, INC has an UNSATISFACTORY rating with the Better Business Bureau.

For such practices as numerous unresolved complaints re: contract disputes, credit or billing disputes, refund practices and service issues.

Based on BBB files, this company has an unsatisfactory record with the Bureau due to unresolved complaints. Most customer complaints presented by the Bureau have been resolved, however. The company responded to complaints by referring to the terms and conditions affecting Dish Satellite equipment. Some refunds were given upon the return of the installation coupon to the firm within the prescribed period.

Certificate returns

AUTHOR: David - ()

This is one thing that really gets my goat.
All of our certificates are weighed for postage before they leave our office, and then by the USPS when we send them to be mailed. If the correct weight doesnt match the amount of postage on the envelope, that will be returned to us

Certificates weigh a specific amount. It is Impossible that this customer did not receive the brown certificate, The certificate contains documents that inform her what the certificate is, and info on that to do for a refund, many many customers return ONLY those info papers, and think that those are the certificates.

This is amusing, since the certificate is a very thick, hard, color pictured cardboard folder that looks very offical, says $49.99 Install Certificate on the front, and T&C on the back, and what they send back is a very thin, flimsy, paper that looks like a coupon you get in the Value pacs in the mail. How the Customer could think this is what the certificate is, is beyond me.

We even started puting a full color picture of the certificate in the envelope , on the papers, that is positioned so that it is the very first thing you see when you open it, that stated "The is what your certificate looks like" and what to do for a install, we have tried stapleing instructions to the front of the certificate, only to have the stapled item returned in place of the certificate!

It is amazing that someone could overlook the certificate when this much info is included within, telling what to do for a refund.

And the customers that return the certificate, by eather writing return to sender on it,or sending it back without certifcation, and then getting mad at us and say we are lieing about it's return, when it never gets here and the postal service would NEVER lose their mail need to stop kidding themselves. All it takes is a buck or 2 for tracking to insure it gets to where you send it. Everyone knows the USPS's record for losing mail, I have had it happen many times, after the first 3 times, I allways use tracking whenever money is invloved.

BTW, Return to sender is the absolute WORSE way to return anything, since the USPS just throws that in a bin to be delivered later when all the other mail, that people have paid for tracking, is shipped. They think return to sender mail is less then nothing to them. Its the last to be shipped and could take weeks to get to the sendee.
