I purchased a $100 Vons/Safeway gift card at the Vons store in San Juan Capistrano and mailed it to a friend. Before the card arrived at its destination, someone had used the gift card at a Vons store somewhere in Mission Viejo. The card never left my possession, so I was very surprised to discover that it had been used in a location that I have never visited. When I explained this to the store manager, he acted like he didn't believe me. He basically accused me of using the gift card and then mailing it to my friend and then trying to get Vons to give me another card. I told him that this was fraud and I intended to file charges. The only person who knew I had purchased the gift card was the Vons employee that checked my groceries. Who else would know that I bought and activated a $100 gift card? I dare them to prove me wrong. The store manager was not sympathetic in the least and told me that he would be fired if he gave me another gift card. I have been a loyal Vons customer for many years, and this is how I am treated . . . like a criminal! They have lost a loyal customer who spends thousands of dollars there a year over a $100 gift card. The customer is no longer #1 in their eyes. It's the almighty dollar. I hope it was worth it... Albertsons, here I come!
