We were contacted by phone last March about selling our timeshare at Verde Ridge at Highlands in Sedona, AZ. James Cobb told us his company, Vacation Communications Group had a buyer for our timeshare if we were willing to sell it. We had listed it several years before with another company but it had not sold.  The contract was handled thru email.  It is now four months down the road, and we can no longer contact this company.  Everytime I call, the lines are busy even at midnight. We paid $1,000.00 by credit card which was closed because the sponsored organization changed banks. We no longer have access to the original bank to make a fraud claim.

Scammed as well, refund in sight though

AUTHOR: knittingmom - ()

This is something I think everyone needs to get together on.  There is strength in numbers, otherwise it seems no one can get a reaction from this company.    We have been put through the ringer with these people and it seems to just keep happening to others as well.  The credit card issue would be a major concern of mine too.  They would not respond to my calls several months ago either. My husband is in the process of getting us out though, and we think getting our money back from all 3 rental/resale scamsters we used too (other internet companies).  Do not pay anyone upfront to rent or sell...ever.  None of these crooks will help unless you know how to get their attention.  We have an ebook my husband bought that is basically a "how to" on getting out of a timeshare or vacation club.  It is about a 70 page pdf from someone in the industry who crossed over it seems(timesharesamaritan.com).  I highly recommend it.  I would just send the copy through the site here, but I do not think it will let me.  Worth your time to go to the site and read, do the free download of the intro.  It actually kind of grabs you.

I will tell you it is about a 2-3 month process from what it says in getting your money back but so far it is looking good for us.  One of the rental companies was scared straight after our 1st letters and refunded the $740 immediately.  It is looking like the others will do the same (They owe us $4500 total).  There are some pretty serious issues the book tells you how to handle.  One of them was resale/rental scams like you we are talking about.  The book tells you how to round up other angry owners too, which will help all of us.  There was a money-back guarantee through paypal too.  If you need any other advice please let me know.  My husband and I are getting pretty aggressive with them.  These crooks need to be stopped.  Jackie

Timeshare Resale Scams

AUTHOR: ThomasR - ()

Sadly but truth, there is virtually no resale market for timeshare anymore. The market has collapsed and the stark truth is most timeshare is worthless. Ebay is full of timeshare weeks unsold for only $1. The sellers would of course be quite happy to sell for eve less just to rid themselves of timeshare, so, what would anyone believe on someone that calls and claims there's a "prospect buyer" for your timeshare? It's just too good to be true... I recommend you to read these articles on how to get out of a timeshare resale scam: http://www.timesharescam.com/
