Initially I wanted to see if I can rent my timeshare since I can not afford to travel too much these days, and why not renting it out and make a little money to cover annual maintenance fee. So I decided to contact timeshare rental services (with BBB logo). I called and spoke with a sales agent named Bill Perry at (904) 638-7899 who was at first just like any other sales agents very persistent in selling their services. He had offered for few different pricing with some other fees applied. (of course) I told him I can not afford any of those pricing immediately. He asked me for my credit card. I felt pressured and suggested him that I call him back when I have a little more money to afford. Of course, he kept calling and calling to follow up if I was to change my mind of buying any of the services. I kept saying no I was not ready. At one point, I said okay I will buy this as long as you guys rent my timeshare within a couple months. I did ask him several questions as to what is the turnaround time, and what is the average price for such location and how and who is the target market? He told me that typically timeshare rental is averaging around 60-90 days, and they would target this type of timeshare to conventions and conferences shows. And normally the buyers will notify you directly and we will follow up with you by phone and / or email. Okay I felt that they are in the clear. And plus when I asked him about the BBB rating, he assured me that as well. And I asked him that I can call him to follow up after 30-60-90days to follow up on the rental activities. And that he won't go anywhere to run away after his sales. He told me no problem. I felt I was in the clear. He assured me on the company's BBB rating, his availability, and written contract. I felt that they are professional.
30 days gone by, I called Bill, his number was not working. So I called the customer service, they told me to wait and be patient. So I waited. This was back in early August 2011.
60 days gone by, I called Bill, his number was not working still. I began to be suspicious. So I called back shortly after the customer service told me he was on vacation. Sure enough I began more suspicious.
I think I have their toll free number (800) 928-7618 on my speed dial, as I call to update status every week now.
90 days gone by, the customer service told me to be patient, and that by during the holidays things will slow down a bit. So I waited a couple more months. I was already in early February 2012. They told me that some companies were interested but not really buying them yet. Okay I was really hopeful, since I am now paying more into this already than receiving rental as they promised.
Today is already 10 months, I can not call that number Bill Perry gave me when he persistently made his sales from me. Now that same number (904) 638-7899 says "the number you are calling is not set up to receive calls" ? and when you call the (800) number it says "the person you are trying to reach is not available". I had tried to call these number in the last 2 weeks.
So today I decided to search online for who they actually are, and watch any reports on them. The rip off website I found a couple complaints enough for me to write my own.
Has anyone else been scammed by this company? And who can we report this to, so we can have our money back or have our timeshare to be rented?
The money I gave them last year was supposed to be part of my foot surgery budget and I think I had lost it. I am disappointed than upset that people have the heart to do this kind of scam. As for Bill Perry, you are not truthful and been lying straight up to me. How can I be so naive.
I hope BBB can read this and correct their rating.
