We booked a 2 or 3 bedroom condo/depended on avail. for 3 nights. At 6:45 we arrived at the Alpine Hotel, at the outskirts of Collingwood (the flea bag motel you pick your keys up at).
Problem with reservation right off the bat, they thought we wanted two condos, and they had us leaving in 2 days also I am told there is a $100 deposit for Pool keys, I am willing to give imprint of cc but then he asks me to sign, which I do not want to do, I don't trust them already. Desk clerk/owner, very rude, doesn't care that I don't like it, he kept repeating to me that "I have nothing to do with VIP, so I don't care what you do".
We leave for our condo after reluctantly signing the slip. There is a family in our condo. The lady inside tells me that they were to stay until Friday ( this is Wednesday), but they were leaving early 'cause the place was filthy and they have a 1 year old who is crawling and getting filthy from the carpets etc. She stated it was 'pretty shabby'.
I saw the very dirty livingroom carpet. She had complained to VIP and requested a carpet cleaning and was not getting anywhere. On Wednesday afternoon she informed them they were not happy and they were leaving. They were told they could take their time leaving, that there was no one expected in that unit.
I guess they forgot about us. We go back to Motel, given another condo, we drive to it, and it is at the back of a condo unit, and no pool.(we have 2 small children, must have pool that is on site) We drive back again, extreme confrontation now with this guy, He really doesn't care what we do, again he tells us "I have nothin' to 'friken' do with VIP".
Finally give us another condo, a 1 bedroom w/pullout. should sleep 4. Get there no pull out. My kids have to sleep on the floor out of a bed made from the couch, which by the way looked like something they got out of a garage sale. Tried to phone the VIP office and the phone in room is not connected. Met with the owner and Manager next day at their new office, located in the Alpine Motel.Morgan was full of excuses, she denied telling them they could stay, denied the carpet cleaning and really didn't give a hoot about our problems.
Mentioned several times that we are staying 3 nights not 2 as she had on my reservation. (paid for 3nts). Mr. Shaw didn't say much as we told Morgan about everything gone wrong.He attempted to get us something else, but they had nothing satisfactory. He offered us a free 3 night stay, not sure if that's worth the piece of paper is written on! But, they couldn't even get that right. They offered us 'free 3 nt stay'but paper only said 2 because she thought we were only there for 2nts, but as i said earlier, I made sure I mentioned several times that we were there for 3nts, and I didn't want someone walking into my room as I did. she had wrong information all thru letter and we had to have them redo it.
Phone number has changed due to move (they have moved twice in the last year or less, left out on company profile). I think they are in serious financial trouble. The person who was in the first condo informed us that her father received a notice that VIP has unpaid bills for Florida rentals and their is a lawsuit! Much of the amenities were very run down, and we spoke to several other guests that experienced a multitude of problems with VIP.
My family was planning on going on a winter holiday this year and were going to use VIP, but I am really nervous about their stability, and service standard. Thankfully we were only in Collingwood (3hour drive to home) and not Mexico!!!
