Vanacore Homes, Inc. Vanacore Construction, Inc. Not YOUR hometown builder...Won't honor contract, will have to seek legal counsel to get relief, RUN, RUN, RUN Ormond Beach, Florida

I entered into contract w/ Vanacore Homes in May of 2012 to build a home; they delayed construction throughout the building process--including building two model homes while not working on my contracted home. Their delays resulted in financial costs, the owner of the company (Scott Vanacore) actually used profanity when talking to the lender about the overages I was incurring. He sent multiple threatening letters and text messages to me. One letter stated that I would not receive the certificate of occupancy unless stating (in writing) that I would not speak about the quality of construction or customer service. Another letter threatened to sell to a large tract builder and possibly compromise property value(s) if I didn't agree to sign their statement. The punch list wasn't completed, and when addressed with the owner of the company, he stated that was "only if I had signed their statement." They even refused to do a final walk through of the home. 

He delayed to delivery of the certificate of occupany to the bank by approximately a week, costing more overages, and at closing threatened not to close unless the agreement was signed. He also attempted to add unsubstantiated costs and overages when I wouldn't agree to sign their statement. Our kitchen faucet ($800 retail) was stolen from the home, he refused to replace the fixture, and it was only because of the integrity of the plumbing company that it was replaced. 

Consequently, we are left with a home that has issues, a punch list that isn't completed and a builder that doesn't honor his/their contract. Their practices appear to be unethical, at least, and illegal in the practice of meeting contract obligations and threatening customers.
