Verizon has been billing me $9.99 a month for "Premium Text Messaging."  I didn't authorize this service. Verizon is unable to stop the payments because they say it is from "another company."

Verizon gave me a text address and a phone # to cancel. Problem is, I would need to text from my kid's phone, which now has texting blocked as a result of this fiasco. The phone # goes through the motions of cancelling, but the charges keep coming.

This scam targets kid's phones under the pretext of getting a joke a day or fun ringtones for free. Kids get a message, and when they read it, your accouunt gets signed up for the service. I'm surprised that a company who sells themselves on the basis of their customer service is allowing its customers to be scammed and shafted like this.

Give the refund

To the employee, it is against the law for them to lure children like that. They can have anyone's number and charge it. The consumer didn't want those charges and didn't agree to the charges. They don't say it's going to cost 9.99 a month for the IQ test or other survey until after you enter the code and it's too late. I did the free ring tone service whenever I was a kid and I was never able to get any ring tones and I was charged 9.99 a month, well my mom was but it's still a problem. There were also four charges of 9.99; so apparently they gave away my information. They say you get free ring tones. They are pop ups and pop up all the time; therefore they are advertising the lure kids into something they think is free. Even adults don't understand this. They see free ring tones or cool survey....they want it. They make it look trendy and try to deceit the consumer. It's stated in small letters where a reasonable person isn't able to find it? They are not legally allowed to sell it to kids. Tell me, why would I want to pay 9.99 a month or more whenever I can get my own ringtones and take free surveys all the time. Yes it states data rates apply within your company meaning it would be a charge per text if you don't have unlimited text messaging.

premium sms

If the charge came from your child's phone your issue is with the child not Verizon wireless. You  should monitor you childrens cell phone and now since you have the block for premium sms you should be fine. Phones today can do so many things so before you get a 12 year old a blackberry or a phone that can do anything that a computer can do ask yourself how smart does that sound
