Purchased two phones and signed up for new wireless service at a BJ's in New Hampshire.  Was told that I could file a rebate form to receive $50 in BJ's gift cards--$25 for each phone.  The deadlines were very tight, but I got copies of the receipts, mailed each form (in a separate envelope), and waited.  A few weeks later, received an email saying that they'd received the necessary paperwork and the rebate should be arriving shortly.  A week later, received a postcard saying that the rebate had been rejected due to an "invalid postmark."  I contacted the rebate center via web chat and explained that the postmarks were well within the specified deadline.  The representative, "Kim," said that it must have been a processing error and that I should expect the rebates within 8 weeks.  Strangely, though, I'd checked online and the dates that were entered were, in fact, correct.  As I'd only mentioned the one offer, I checked out both submissions and they had identical data and had both been declined for the same reason.  I tried to point out that there must be a problem with their processing--(some inaccurate code somewhere?) but was assured that it was nothing more than human error and I shouldn't be alarmed.

I decided to call Verizon directly and followed the instructions for alerting the Consumer Protection Agency of Connecticut--I just feel that rebates are narrowly legal to start with, but with the realization that their "processing" was buggy made me feel that other consumers were probably being similarly defrauded.  After my Chat with the rebate center, I received an email thanking me for my "email" regarding the issue and I should receive my rebate in 8 weeks.
