I went to Best Buy to purchase a Galaxy 5 phone and requested Boast Service. After speaking the salesperon (can't remember her name)

Manager's name is Michael and Supervisor is Freedman.)

This Saleswomen  recommended Verizon stating it would only cost me no more then $40.00 a month total for phone and services . I questioned this but she again stated that Best Buy's flyer was wrong, and that I needed my .S.S card. I thought that was strange but I know my credit was downhill since I became sick -------So I understood this or so I thought

I called up Verizon that night and they stated they do ask for your S.S card. So I went to the S.S office and got my card the next day..

Back to Verizon, I give the same saleswomen my card to be faxed. As she was talking to Verizon, I looked at the flyer which said" Phone payments and services fees apply " she again said it is hard to understand but it will be no more the $40.00 total. I went to the manager Manager Michael and Mr. Freedman , Michael said it would cost me $70.00 a month. I was so upset. This saleswomen also said she would give me a lower price on the case but didn't. I cancel and went back to Boast

Michael, The manager was very helpful. A few weeks go by and I go to another Best Buy Store in Hartsdale. Salesperson there said they never ask for a S.S. card. I became very upset. I called Verizon  and again they said yes they do ask for the S.S card to protect themselves.

I was very upset and told them they protected themselves by puting me at risk with their policy - The Verizon consumer service said they would investigate Best Buy, I asked them what are you going to do about my S.S number out in public. the response was that I should get some type of service that watches my credit. I was not allowed to get  a name, phone number or email address  of anyone to contact.

It's Verizon fault for having such a policy ,Best Buy's fault for keeping a lier for a salesperson and me for being so stupid.  Please advise. Thank you for your assistance and time.

What are you talking about

What is "boast" to begin with?? And what is the reason you do not have a SS card with you?? Is there a reason you kept getting upset?? You could have just said NO and walked away.  NO one held a gun to your head nor threatened you with violence did they?

Get over it - there are lots of other services out there so just go with one of them and GROW UP!

Yes EVERY carrier asks for your SS NUMBER!!! If there was a credit review needed to get the services then Verizon is going to want a copy of the card to PROVE YOU are whom you say you are. There is a TON of wireless fraud out there and its the carriers that eat ALL of the costs when fraud happens. ALL the carriers are doing is protecting themselves from THIEVES!!!! And lets face it, YOU would think NOTHING of screwing THEM over if it benefits YOU. THAT is the American Way anymore. YOU can deny it, but like EVERY OTHER AMERICAN out there, YOU will do the deed then JUSTIFY it to yourself and others. So NOW they ask for MORE then just your name and address. THEY want to ensure that the $600-800 dollar phone isn't going to end up in Mexico. Sold so it can be unlocked and abused on other carriers networks. It is VERY common for scammers to do EXACTLY what YOU are doing. Hence WHY they want extra information. Im guessing that YOU have no idea about any of the personal information protections that EVERY carrier has to follow or they lose the right to deal with phones. Its a VERY serious offence to give ANY information that is a customers to ANYONE other then the carrier that person is applying for. There are fines and jailtime if it happens. Odds are that YOU are one of those people who THINKS that NO ONE has the right to ask YOU for YOUR information. YOU probably fight the poor sales people when YOU return a item. Its so common anymore that businesses have a word for it P>I>T>A!!!! Odds are that NOTHING is going to happen with YOUR SS number. It was needed to start up services. To verify that YOU are real and NOT a fictitious identity. That YOU want their services and that YOU wish to apply for those same services. THAT is the process. If YOU find ANYTHING funny with your SS number then YOU need to contact Verizon directly and have them open an investigation. If it is indeed found that a Verizon Employee violated the customers trust, then Verizon will have to pay the FTC and the FCC.
