Video Professor Ebay Offer (Free $50 after 1st purchase or sale on eBAY within 30 days of receiving the CD 1-800-951-8108 Customer Service 1-800-519-4110)
So, after seeing this offer advertised repeatedly on TV, I decided, "What do I have to lose? I'll go ahead and take advantage of the offer." I called and ordered the free ebay CD from Video Professor, being sure to clarify that I would not be enrolled into any kind of auto-billing program, and that I could take advantage of the offer on this basis.
After the call, became concerned after searching online and discovering a lot of people complaining about taking advantage of Video Professor offers only to be auto-enrolled and billed repeatedly.
So I called the Customer Service number and was advised that I will ONLY be billed 6.95 ONE TIME (shipping and handling) and that I will be able to receive the $50 incentive promo within 4-6 weeks of faxing proof of sale or purchase on eBay.
Having received the eBay CD (and only having been billed the $6.95 shipping and handling charge as promised), completed eBay account set up and purchase online - called to find out how to claim $50 and was advised to request the "Redemption Form" after completing the eBay account set up and completing the first sale or purchase.
Proof of completing the terms and conditions of the offer must include:
1. Copy of email from opening eBay account
2. Screenshot of Congratulations message for purchase from eBay
3. Copy of PayPal Confirmation email
Having completed all of the requirements called to request Redemption Form for eBay $50 Offer, and was advised 10-15 days to receive the form by mail. Because of the 30 day timeframe (from the date of receiving the CD) to complete the offer (informed of on a previous call), I asked if she could fax or email me the form. She puts me on hold and comes back and advises that she spoke with a Supervisor and the offer doesn't apply because I didn't pay $189.95, so I'm not eligible. She offered to transfer me to a Supervisor and I hung up out of frustration.
Obviously I was misinformed on repeated phone calls regarding the terms and conditions of the offer. On that basis, without investing too much of my personal time, I am reporting this on ripoffreports.com and to the FTC.
At this point it is a matter of principle. I'm no longer concerned with the $50.
Video Professor should not be allowed to dupe consumers. Make the terms and conditions of any marketing offer explicitly clear in advertising and communications. To do otherwise is deceptive and misleading.
I'll never do business in the future with Video Professor and I encourage other consumers to avoid this company.
