On Jan 4,2012, Tyler, property manager of 271 w 900 so, accompanied by police, knocked on our door and demanded my husband and I to vacate within 15 min.We were forced to leave without any prior notice and was not given time to get any of our things out. We had resided there for 2 years.Tyler then changed the door lock code and we were locked out and told not to come back on the property and would have 30 days to get our belongings out. This was all over the fact that Tyler was looking for an excuse to get us out so he could rent the apt to new renters at a 100% rent increase. We were not given any wriiten notice or court order.
We had to get a motel for the 4wks and during that time someone went into our place and stole our stereo system, my motorola suefboard modem and some of our dry food items. This has cost us a tremendous amount of loss and stress. These property owners of 271 w 900 so slc ut denied any wrongdoing and the property manager Tyler who leases the property is a greedy, uneducated kid who knows nothing about being a landlord.
Do not rent at this location you will only get ripped off and descriminated. The 15 unit building should be torn down, It's running rampid with spiders and mice, there's mold on the walls, the drains are plugged and tyler does not want to fix anything.

In response to the feedback that the problem was resolved--yes I guess it was resolved after having to get an attorney who was bought out by Vina so this would not go to court and have a lawsuit against them. We got 3 free weeks out of the deal. After that we moved. No were not asked to leave because the room needed repairs, we were TOLD by the police to leave because Tyler did not want to admit that he was wrong and it pissed him off. The owners son wrote off what we owed in backpay which was not that much, but the reason we didnt pay rent for a month was because the place had a leaky ceiling in the bathroom, mold was growing in the rooms, the shower drain was plugged and black (sewer) water was backing up in it. We notified owner in writing and nothing was done about it, nor did they respond. I talked to CAP and an attorney who told me its legal to withhold rent under circumstances. Vina did not register the place as a motel until right before we were able to return to our room. So it cost us about $2000 for the month we were ousted and we didnt do anything wrong.
We never had any problems until Tyler took over the lease. My complaint is not against Vinas' per say
however they are the property owners and they are the ones who leased the property out to Tyler so they are responsible. Whoever wrote the rebuttal on this issue was misinformed and have given the wrong information to the public. to be blunt-they are lying.

This matter was resolved. The building is in great condition. The guests were asked to leave because their room was in need of some repairs, but primarily because of a large amount of unpaid fees. Honestly, If it was so horrible, Im not sure why they were so upset about leaving. Its just a motel...
