Some how VirusBusters was able to come onto my computer (unsolicited)and run a virus and/or spyware scan. I did NOT initiate a "free" scan. Anyway it found some spyware om my computer, so now it has embedded itself on my toolbar telling me over and over that I have these files on my computer.

I looked at the files and most of them are from their competitors software company's. I wrote to them over and over trying to get them to respond ro my problem they have not replied at all!!! I tried to actually download their software (without buying) and that didn't produce a resolution.

I of course tried to remove it from "add/remove prgrams" to no avail. All I want is for them to get it off my computer it is very irrating that message popping up telling me I have spyware. They are the spyware, and they need to be stopped. they are embedding themselves on computers unsolicited and you have to purchase there software to get it off your computer.

There is a computer geek here in town that has developed what he calls the "security tango". Google that term and go to the web page. follow the directions and you should be able to clean up your computer. Nick Francesco is the IT administrator at Rochester Institute of Technology.

Its all free and great advice.

William,

This is a very common and annoying tactic used by unscrupulous software companies. They install software without your knowledge or permission and then try to extort money from you to disable or remove it.

Google virusbusters. Towards the bottom of the results page, you should see a couple links for forums.techguy. Read up on what's going on.

You should probably get some anti-spyware software. Go to anti-spyware-review dot toptenreviews dot com. Read the reviews. I bought the gold rated product and have been very happy with it. It completely removed a nasty Spy Sheriff infection and has kept my computer spyware-free ever since. Best $25 you'll ever spend. You can also go to their web site and get a scan. You might be surprised at how much spyware you have on your computer.

There are also some good free products, although they prevent infections rather than removing them.
Google spyware blaster, spyware search and destroy & lavasoft adaware.

Also, make sure your machine is up to date on security patches from Microsoft.

Good luck.
