In August 2012 we agreed to a 42 contract with Vivint to provide hardware and home security services. We had a completely functional and dependable hard wired security system prior to falling prey to a smooth talking salesperson. This home was built new in 2010. We never experienced a single issue with our previous security provider. I was interested in the video surveilance feature was my only reason for switching. You do not recieve what they promise during the sales pitch. The cameras have low picture quality and significant lag. They will blame that on your internet speed no matter how fast your service test. It won't be their fault and they can't improve it.

If they knock on your door, Slam your door immediately. They promised a quick and painless installation that would be completed on the day of the purchase. It actually took several days to install. They did not assess any of the existing hardware to determine if it would be compatible with the vivint equipment. This will potentially be your first poor decision in a long nightmare problems. They butcher your existing security system and basically hotwire their junk in. None of the vivint installation technicians are certified electricians, but they are going cut electrical wiring in your home. Don't be surprised when your the system goes rogue and does unexplainable things. Examples: Fire Alarm goes off in the middle of the night mulitple times waking up everyone. Turns on the Emergency Heat either while your family is asleep or your out of town. We awoke and arrived home on several occassions to find the house between 87-95 degrees. Vivint doesn't pay your utility bill either by the way.

No matter what they promise you there is a chance they will not have any idea what's going on following the occurance of these problems. They will however provide you with a sympathetic moron in Utah that will promise to send more Morons during your work schedule so you can take off and meet them to address your issues. But they won't be able to fix them. Basically they hire a bunch of kids and run them through a product installation class and a really modest product orientation and turn them loose in your house. We Have seen a kindergarden class full of their youthful Field Technicians in our home and each class that comes through they create more issues that can't be explained. have literally loss count of how many of their people have been in our house scratching their heads creating new problems. They will sell you and then bill you for services that boarder on the line of an electrical experiment. Vivint equipment is not at all compatible with all existing hardware. Not all of Vivint's product line such as their Thermostat is a product that will even work as advertised on its own.  Example: The online programable thermostat. We purchased this service as part of our longterm contract. It has never worked for one day. As of today this portion of our service is no longer accessible through the control panel or the online site.  The last week of October 2012 I respectfully requested to have all the equipment removed and be released from the contract. During the second week of November 2012 Vivint presented me with Two options for getting away from them. I had to sell the contract to someone else or pay them $1910.00. They are not a good organization to be involved with and I will make it a point to inform as many people as I possibly can to prevent other good people from having an experience like ours.

This is why vivint sells and installs hundreds of accounts/day. It must have just been your experience because I have them and know tons of people who have them and they are in love with the system.

I dont understand how the sales rep smooth talked you into getting it. That is your fault and you are to blame for that. Stand your ground and say NO. That was your choice.

Second, your internet is too slow if the cameras arent working well. Mine work perfectly, as well as the people i know. You could have put them in and if they were crap, then you can take them out that same day. You are to blame for that.

They have a young group of workers, and yes some may not be as good as others. Take your job for example, if you even have one, and tell us that there is not person who is bad at their job. Yeah I didnt think you could either.

Enough with the blame game. You gave them the go ahead.

Thanks for sharing,
Me
