Vonage Phone Service it took months to be able to cancel, put on hold for hours, foreign speaking agents Jersey City New Jersey

In May of 2007 I I ordered a vonage phone system for use on the internet. There was no caveat or warning the service would not work on a satellite internet system. I have Wild Blue satellite service and after installing the Vonage equipment I attempted to call several friends. In all cases they were able to hear and understand what I said, but I only received short bursts of voice, which not understandable. I called Vonage for help, was given some foreign person who I could barely understand. No resolution to the problem was given. I made numerous attempts including querying my internet provider, Wild Blue, who was unable to help. I kept receiveing the same reply after a long wait on hold. So after a couple of weeks I started to try to cancel the service. It took from May of 2007 until October 4, 2007 to get them to cancel something that didn't work, could not be made to work, and by then they had raised the charges to 219.35. How they arrived at that figure is not explained. I had sent their equipment back by the postal service and had a receipt for its mailing.
I corresponded with them but was never able to get them to admit the utter failure of their product, so now they are trying to force me to pay them 219.35 by turning it over to a collection agency. The agency is Vision Financial Corp, PO Box 900 Purchase New York. I am filing a complaint with the Attorney General of the sate where I live (New Mexico), and I hope anyone who reads this message is smart enough to steer clear of this company and its fraudulent practices. I am 80 years old, and on Social Security and I feel these people are just plain crooks.
