I signed up for Vonage in October of 2006. After having their service for about 1 month, they added a second phone line without my permission. My monthly bill went up, but I thought it may have been a result of a rate increase. The house that had the vonage line was a rental home that I used on occasion, so I never really paid close attention to the phone bill. About 2 years later I was looking for ways to knock my bills down a little and took a closer look at my phone bill. This is when I realized they had added a second line without my permission. I called Vonage and explained the situation. I told them I NEVER authorized a second line, and told them that if they checked their records, they would see that the second line was NEVER used. Naturally, they did nothing to help me.

I realize it was my carelessness for not paying attention to the bill, but I didn't think I would have to check my phone bill every month to make sure I wasn't getting ripped off. Also, since Vonage never sends out a statement, I really had no way of seeing the cost breakdown. The only way to look at your Vonage bill is to log on to their website, which is something I never did.

When I called to cancel service, it took 30 minutes to get through to someone. Naturally, an Asian woman answered the phone who could barely speak English, and I could barely understand what she was saying. She said she needed several pieces of information before she could cancel the service. I told her I didn't have the info, and she said she would call back in 15 minutes to allow me time to gather the info. Needless to say, she never called back.

I called back and this time, I chose the option for adding a second line. Someone answered right away on the 3rd ring..I explained the situation, got put on hold for another 5 minutes and finally got through to someone. They offered me a bunch of lower priced options, but I said I wanted nothing to do with their company.

Vonage blatantly ripped me off. These people are criminals and a class action law suit should be put against them. I did a Google search on " ripped off by Vonage " and there are hundreds of similar complaints.

If anyone would like to re-post this message, please feel free to do so. This company needs to be put out of business before other people get swindled out of their hard earned money.
