After further conversation, he told me I would have to have seperate ISP, they do not provide. I told him I wanted to check prices with Embarq and to call back to confirm if I wanted Vonage Services. He immediately collected 9.95 from my bank.

I talked to many people from Vonage, during the past 2 months, many of them with middle-eastern accents and from out of the USA. I could tell, they were probably reading from a form on what answers to give and always gave very polite responses. Unfortunately, I did not write down their names. I first contaced Vonage on March 2nd or 3rd, 2003. After I had given my bank account number and upon further questioning, I told the salesman, I wanted to check prices with my local phone company, Embarg. "So don't start Vonage Service until you call me to confirm. The man did not call me back and immediately collected 9.95 from my bank. I decided to take Embarq's service which also provides me with a web site at a better savings. In fact, Embarq installed their modem the next day. When, I found that Vonage had taken money from my account without confirmation, I called to cancel their service. I had thrown their account and pin numbers in the garbage. The next Vonage person I contacted insisted he could not cancel their service without an account and pin number. I asked to speak with a supervisor and she confirmed what he said and added that another 30.92 would be taken by Vonage, from my bank account, until they received their device back which was on the way. I hung up and immediately called my bank. The person at the bank said they had other complaints about Vonage and suggested I change my account number which we did at that time. A few days later UPS delivered the Vonage device and I refused it, never touched the box, never brought it into my house, the UPS man had me sign his order and returned it. On March 7, 2008 I received an email from Vonage stating they were unable to process a billing transaction for my account in the amount of 30.92. I emailed back: I refused your modem from UPS so it shoud come back to you. Please send me the 9.95 you took, prematurely from my account and delete my bank account number from your files." From that date I have been billed via email, weekly, that my account is in error and to remit balance of 30.92. Finally, on May 12, 2008 I got an email threatening to suspend my Vonage Service! I called, talked to a woman supervisor and asked "please do suspend me, there is no Vonage Modem connected to my computer. She then agreed to FINALLY CANCEL my NON-SERVICE!!! hOORAY! But, she insisted that I still owed Vonage for Disconnection, shipping and cancellation. I laughed and said goodbye. An hour later I checked my email and there was a Vonage Bill."We received your request to cancel your Vonage Service, but we were unable to process the final account charges listed below." Balance due: 73.71. And they threaten to turn my account over to a collection agency. This is FRAUD!! I will never use my credit card on the internet again! Lesson learned the hard way and I hope this letter will help others. Change your account number as soon as you become aware of a problem so that companies like this cannot continue to feed off your hard earned money. I only lost 9.95!"
