on april 22, 2013  i went to walmart to get a  coffee maker.  Upon arriving in the appliance dept. i  looked over  all the coffee makers available under 20.00.  Upon  searching thru the coffee makers, something facinating caught my eye.   2  coffee makers  for   1 cent....  i examined the coffee makers,

One  was a  4 cup  coffee  maker  and it had a yellow sticker price of  1  cent. on the  price holder  sitting in front of   it.   i thought hmm.   these must be  discontinued  item so they need  to  sell them.
Knowing  . it was a  good  deal,  i  called my sister who was with me,  Over  to see  the coffee makers for  1  cent.  there was  3...   one  had already  been taken,  all that was there was its  description on the tag and the  1  cent  price.   and  there was 1 more,  a    12 cup  ( not sure about the brand  i forget its name)  but it was the kind  that  made 12 cups of  coffee,  but you could  hold the cup up against  the  dispenser part of it  ( same as what would be on a fountain machine  )     I  told my sister to stay there with this  coffee maker, i went back  to get a store  manager.  I asked for  assistance  in  appliance dept.   They dispatched   someone there.   well they didnt show up,  So i tol dmy sister  to  go get a manager, while i  stayed with this  coffee maker  to make sure no one else  got it ,,,   She  left an went and got a manager.  the manager  asked "  what can i help you with ?"
I showed the manager the  2  coffee pots  for  1  cent. an di said i want  this one, the 12 cup maker, i said  its priced for 1  cent so  thats what i should be able to get it for , right?  she said yes  most definately!  and she scanned them both. and they both come up 1  cent....  she said  well  thats  odd, but let stake them up front  , So we  carried the coffee  makers   up front.  the coffee makers  had a piece o f  plexiglass  screwed to the bottom of  them  as  display items  but on teh sticker it said  display  item!   So we  took the coffee makers up front and she  dispatched  another manager,

She  told me,  for  1  cent, she said , '   I WOULD GET BOTH OF THEM IF I WAS YOU!" i said  i will!  well  the 2nd manager come  up an she explained  the items was marked 1  cent  each, and she showed him the  sticker price,  and  told him there was a 3rd one  there but someone ha d already taken  that one! well   he  left  for  about 20 minutes,  come back, and  tol dme   & my sister,  well   they sen du s these  coffee pots an dthey might not even work!  i said  i will take my chances for  1  cent!    to make  along story short    He  refused to sell us  either of the coffee pots  for  1  peny as  marked.  I tol dhim that was false  advertisement!  he  said,  well  you  should have known   it wasnt 1  cent. I said  whether i  kno wo r not,   thats what the price is  marked on  them  so  thats whati shouul d get them for, and  i f theres  a problem  with  the pricing, then you should go talk to the  employee  who marked  them,  I feel  i should  be able to buy   them for  teh price  marked on them!   He  refused to sell them to me  for  the  1 cent as  marked!  he  said  well im the  manager  here and  i say   we cant sell  them for that  price, marked wrong or not! i said  well,  thats  fine,   i will go over  both managers head. i will contact the BBB  an d let THEM know and i will file  a report against you  for it!    and if thats the only way  yall can make a sale  is  by false  advertising,  then good luck with  that!

I said  i will go to kmart, an i will  pay 20.00 for   a  coffee maker  before  id ever buy  one from here! an better  than that,  neither  myself  or   any o f my family will ever buy   anything from walmart again!    You do this to customers  then wonder why,   you  lose  customers!  Id  rather  pay 20.00 for  one  from  kmart!  then  to  let you get by with false  advertising an d  make  a sale  upon fraudulant advertising!   So  we went to  kart and paid  14.95 for  a  coffee maker.   from now  on,  i will never ever buy anything  from   walmart again..... kmart is  a much better  place to shop  and  kroger is  the  place where  we always buy  our groceries  anyway,,  its just sad  that walmart can  mistreat   its  customers  an get by with it.

disgusting

AUTHOR: Batman - ()

And apparently at Walmart, it pays to be stupid and demanding. The fact they caved in to your ridiculous demands only encourages such disgusting behavior and furthers the overreaching sense of entitlement that society suffers from today. You may have won the battle but the rest of us decent folk are losing the war. I hope karma steps in and makes the coffee maker leak and damage $60+ worth of your stuff...

WALMART PROBLEM RESOLVED

AUTHOR: Tim Johnson - ()

Upon contacting walmart corporate office and explaining the  problem with the coffee makers marked for  1  cent each.  Corporate office agreed with ME!  (  thank you)   that  it was not my fault the prices was not marked correctly. and what ever price that was on the sticker,  for the coffee pots, was what they are to be sold  as! therefore,  should have not been a problem with me  purchasing them  for 1  penny each as they was  clearly marked, and  confirmed by  assistant manager. The Corporate lady i spoke to agreed,  that she  too,  would expect to be able to purchase  them  at the 1 cent price , and the fact of whoever done it,  is NOT  my problem,......  SO  today,  walmart manager called and  apologized for the way the manager acted yesterday, and  told me to come back out today,  that i should have been able to purchase them yesterday, without a problem!  SO  i went to walmart, an d i got the  59.96 coffee pot,  for free....     Thank You Corporate Walmart  for tending to your customers!

What?

AUTHOR: Inspector - ()

I could only understand a few sentences but what I gleaned from it is that you are a nutcase.  Did you really expect the store to sell it to you for that price?    By the way, if the price was two coffee makers for one cent, how then can you buy one?

Not false advertising.

AUTHOR: Starvros - ()

Obviously it was a mistake. What would Walmart have to gain by putting a one cent price tag on an item and then refuse to sell it at that price?

Sorry...

AUTHOR: Batman - ()

The fact you're here and actually upset about this puzzles me. You honestly believe you were ripped off and that you were somehow entitled to purchase these coffee makers for .01? each? Seriously?

First off, i
t's not a ripoff or illegal or even unethical for a store to refuse to sell an item that is obviously priced incorrectly.

Just as there are laws to protect consumers, there are also laws that protect retailers from the occasional honest mistake. Why do you think stores are able to refuse to honor sales that were misprinted in their newspaper circular?

Now with that being said, if the incorrect price is close and relatively reasonable, most retailers will allow the sale just to keep the customer happy, and then they'll simply go and fix the rest of their stock afterwards.

However, if an item is marked some crazy amount (like .01?) and that is clearly not the price and any"reasonable" person would agree, then the store is absolutely within their rights to refuse the sale. Otherwise, anyone smart enough to swap price stickers around or lucky enough to find an unattended pricing gun would be able to "legally" steal thousands in merchandise by discounting the stuff.

You want to avoid feeling ripped off when something like this happens? Then stop being silly and start acting like a reasonable adult... it's that simple.

And lastly, as a piece of friendly advice, try running a spell-check in the future because your post is practically unreadable.
