Over the course of 6 months, my ex girlfriend wrote almost a grand in bad checks to We Energies. Every single check she ever wrote bounced, and We energies never attempted to contact me despite having my phone number on file. Instead of attemping to contact me and resolve the debt and inform me that for months my ex was writing bad checks, they sued me instead (because it's so much easier to file court paperwork than to call a customer and have the debt settled immediately).
I offered to pay off amount owed, after which We Energies told me I could not pay it off I had to wait until after the court date. I called back several other times and went between a handful of supervisors before one of them told me I could pay it off early I would just have to pay the court costs, attorney fees, etc. and everything else that would happen if I let it go to court anyway... I guess suing customers is more appealing to We Energies since they get to add all these fees, instead of only receiving the amount owed.
Nevertheless, I paid We Energies more than $850 in the course of a few weeks then set up a payment plan to pay off the rest of the debt that was acquired because of these bad checks my ex wrote. Not only did she write bad checks on my account she wrote bad checks on my landlord's account as well, without permission (she even wrote the landlord a letter making claims we energies made a mistake transferring the electric over to our account and that was the reason for the bills coming in his name), and caused him to bounced check fees and other things as well.
We Energies has openly refused to help both my landlord and I with this. They have openly refused to either a) turn the bad checks over to the DA or b) provide copies of the checks so that the landlord and I can sue her for the damages caused. Not only did they openly refuse to provide these today, they change their story every week... I spoke to a woman named Mary in their litigation department who before Christmas assured me that she would get copies of the checks and give me a call back asap to help us. A week later I called back and was transferred to Mary, who apparently was on vacation so I left her a detailed message. A week after that I called again and was told Mary was not in the office but spoke to another supervisor who told me only Mary could handle it. I called again today and Mary told me that they will not provide the checks to either the DA or us.
I asked why they were so quick to sue legitimate customers but refuse to assist legitimate customers in taking actions against those who perform fraud and other criminal acts against their account and she said that's just how We Energies does business... They choose money over business ethics and would rather sue a legitimate, paying customer than to take action on someone who already has multiple felonies for doing this to other people.
Thank you We Energies for openly refusing to give a legitimate customer any justice in and for supporting credit card fraud committed against your customers. May hundreds of other customers get screwed over because of your poor ethics and disgusting attitude toward those who actually pay their bills.
