You were not ripped off. Your car was repossessed due to loan default.
"They have no heart!"
The signed contract does not require sympathy from the lender; it requires timely payments from the borrower. You will always require financing from a subprime lender until you admit fault and clean up your foul attitude.

Nice potty mouth..

It doesn't matter if your husband put down $3,000, he still borrowed several thousand dollars from them on the agreement that he would pay them a specific amount on specific dates. There is nothing in the agreement that says he only has to pay them when he could. Until you pay off the car it is NOT your car and they can repossess it if you are delinquent. Yes..even if you owed $1.
You are with a Sub-Prime lender, meaning you have a history of not paying your bills. Where this pattern seems to be continuing. You were not just late..you were late with your first(or possibly second) payment. While I am not a psychic I can pretty much guarantee that if you get the car back, this may have been your first repossession on this car but it won't be your last unless you change your attitude.
But, you owe them money, what did you expect them to do. They hear sob stories all day every day. Some true, some lies. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that you don't seem capable of communicating without cussing. If you approached them like that, it's not surprising they had an attitude.
You may not be done with them yet. If they auction the car and get less than you owe, they can come back to you for the rest.
