We have been working with WJ Bradley on a FHA mortgage for three months. Based on preliminary approval, we made an offer on our dream home. Along the way, we had to apply three times and jump through numerous hoops as their mortgage consultant and underwriters were not knowledgeable of products. They requested the same information multiple times and it all had to be provided immediately for underwriting. Then all the underwriters suddenly left the company and we had to start all over again. All along we were "guaranteed" approval.
Last night, less than six days before our scheduled closing, the mortgage consultant said there were last minute requirements and needed additional information. We spoke to the branch manager that stated there was an exception meeting and he was confident we'd get through the process and close the following week. At the end of the day the mortgage consultant called and stated the loan was declined and there was nothing else she could do.
We now have to scramble to find a place to rent as our leases ends in a month and we won't be able to complete another mortgage option in that short time frame.
We have purchased four homes in the last 25 years and never had any issues. This experience with WJ Bradley has left us devastated. I would be very careful of WJ Bradley's "bait and switch" tactics and would not recommend using them for a mortgage.
