I consulted with Wood Floors By Classic to redo the flooring inside my condominium. Due to their accredited status with the Better Business Bureau and their affiliation with the American Wood Flooring Association I expected a higher level of professionalism than is typical of other flooring contractors, especially taking the companys higher price into consideration. Unfortunately, Wood Floors By Classic performed an absolutely irreprehensible job and thus far have refused to take responsibility for it.

Wood Floors By Classic strongly recommended that in lieu of installing new flooring to instead refinish the original stained floors. I was not once informed of the potential risks associated with refinishing a wood floor that already was already finished to begin with. These risks include the floorboards becoming curved, wavy, and cracked. Wood Floors By Classic sent a couple of workers who did not speak nor understand much English to my home, who then proceeded to ruin my floors beyond repair.

My floor is now bent, wavy, and virtually destroyed. I have consulted with several flooring/contracting experts who have observed the flooring in my condo and they all agree that my floor is damaged to the point where I now need new flooring. I would have been agreeable to new flooring from the beginning, that is until Wood Floors By Classic recommended that I instead opt for having my pre-finished floor finished once again. In the process, I was never made aware as to the possible hazards involved with having pre-finished flooring re-finished. Not only have I been stuck with the cost but it has also wasted an immense amount of my time. Wood Floors By Classic has not taken any accountability for their actions and their work as well as their behavior throughout all of this has been nothing short of unacceptable.

I would like to at least get all my money back so I can use it towards installing new floors (that will of course cost me 3 times as much).

THEY HIRED A SMALL CLAIMS ARBITRATOR

AUTHOR: Roman - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 04, 2012

They Wood Floors actually managed to hire lawyer who is also a small claims arbitrator in that same Brooklyn Small Claims Court. That old lady definitely knew who to work the system and which Judge to see. To make the long story short - I SIMPLY COULD NOT BELIEVE WHAT I SAW IN THAT COURTROOM. The Judge fully took one side and totally abused my lawyer. He could not believe what happened and how we even ended up in front of an actual Judge when 95% of the time all small claims cases go in front of an arbitrator. The Judge didnt even want to see a VIDEO that showed exactly how bad the floors were.

I am simply too busy to waste more time on these small time crooks. Maybe a little later when I have a personal attorney on staff, I will take them to civil court just not to let them get away with this.

Whoever is reading this if you though the court system is fair and can not be manipulated, please keep in mind what happened to me.

Won in court. Wow.

AUTHOR: voiceofreason - (United States of America)

Nice to know you won YOUR issues in court. Now please explain what caused his floor to warp, and how that warping was NOT your fault. Short of that, you just come off looking like you might be very good at convincing courts you fulfilled contracts, and not very good at doing the actual work.

The customer may well have been a pain, changing this and that, but it was still your folks who applied whatever ruined his wood. Even if your people applied something after warning him it might ruin the floor, I consider the professionals doing the work to have the responsibility NOT to do it and REFUSE the job, when in their experience, such warping could occur. The customer is not the expert and can't be expected to request things out of anything but whim and ignorance.

THIS CLIENT LOST IN COURT

AUTHOR: wood floors by classic - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, December 22, 2011

this job was a refinishing job and the client never discussed new installation, my crews arrived to the job site and did the job according to original contract.
after sanding was completed the client picked a stain color and was very happy after application when we started to apply the finish he started to ask to change from original contract which was water base poly to oil base poly because he was advised by his cousin we did so without charging him, after the final coat was put down (the one he requested ) he was not happy and asked for additional coats of poly again in order to make sure he will be happy we did it at no charge because the crew was already there.

The client decided he did not want to pay the final balance and called our offices making threats we ended up going to court and won the case because the judge saw that no matter what we did we could not make him happy he is just the type of client that will find ways to get out of paying his bills.

The Judge was also very impressed with how much we tried to do in order to make him happy, She did note that our record was very clean we had only 1 complaint 10 years ago that was corrected, for a company to have such a good record should show you that we will go to any length to  make our clients happy but this particular case showed us   that some people will not be happy no matter what you do to try and help.
