The last 2 loads I delivered for them, they refused to pay me. Jeff Smith, the terminal manager, sent me a message on my Q/C saying 'how about if I deduct the accident from your pay"
I received only a small percentage of pay for the last 2 loads I did for them. example one was to pay $260, I got only $60. The other was about $600, they paid only $120. Only after I filed a preliminary wage claim with the Arkansas Dept of Labor, did they pay me.
This company is evil. My dispatcher, Becky Smith, kept threatening me with loss of my job if I didn't keep moving when my hours of service were up.
Stay away from this company. I am trying to get an attorney to file a class action lawsuit against them if I can get enough drivers together.

WSE is awesome!!!

Although I never really dealt with Becky, I did have an incredible dispatcher, Howell Skelton.
Howell was amazing & made certain I was taken care of. In nearly 5 years, he & I had only 1 minor disagreement, nothing major, and we worked it out quickly.
I had driven nearly 14 years with other companies, even owned my own for a few, and in all my time on the road, I never drove for anyone who treated me better than WSE.
My trailer stayed loaded, when it wasn't I'd get paid layover, and they kept me running. The thing that stood out the most to me was in Nov. 2006. I was bringing a load from Florida to Dallas, TX.
I had spent about 2 hours on the phone that night with my mom & step dad back in Michigan. I found out the next day, that would be the last time I ever talked to my dad.
He passed away from a heart attack that night. I had no idea. While en route to Dallas, I had blown a trailer tire, which took out the one next to it & the mud flap bracket, so after my delivery in Dallas, I went to the TA on I 30 to get it fixed.
The TA is by a lake/reservoir, so there was no cell coverage on my phone, and with my truck in the shop, the QualComm could not get a signal. The only thing I knew is that I had been pre-planned on a load from Waco, TX to Illinois that didn't load for 2 1/2 days.
Well, after being stuck inside the TA for nearly 5 hours, they finally got my truck done. As I was pulling it out of the shop, the QualComm started beeping like crazy. I had over 20 messages from Howell to call him immediately. So I did, & he told me to call my mom. My Grandmother was 89 at the time & I thought something to her.
When I finally managed to call my mom, she told me we lost my step-dad. I was numb, I had to stop & just park for awhile before I could get my wits about me to drive. I called Howell back, and he told me he had my trailer loaded in Waco waiting on me-2 1/2 days early! And that I just had to drop my empty there & grab the load to IL, & that when I dropped that one to just take an empty home.
He told me to take 30 days off to be with my family & if I needed more to let him know and he'd work with me. I took a nap and drove to IL then home to Mich. and was with my mom & family the next day.
In nearly 18 years & almost 3 million total miles OTR (much of it team, alot solo), I have never driven for a company who treated me better than Willis Shaw.
I made a mistake once & quit, 6 months later they accepted me back with no problems. I drove for another 2 1/2 years for them.
Many things changed in my life since then. I decided to take a regional job to get home more often, which didn't go as I had hoped. I got off the road in 2009 after a woman fell asleep at the wheel trying to pass me west of Nashville. I've changed careers & sell cars now, however if I ever, EVER even consider driving truck again, Willis Shaw will be my first (& hopefully last) call.
Howell retired, then I ended up with Don Banta, who was awesome as well. He was a former driver as well. Howell, I miss you & I hope you're enjoying your retirement. And Apple Picker, thanks for everything.
Like I said, WSE is amazing and treated me like family. Don't believe the sour grapes here, much of it can be attributed to driver error, like stupid accidents. Willis Shaw is a great company to drive for!

I worked for wse in the beginning of my driving carreer and as per the training i recieved there i am a great part of the trucking industry and have been for seven years now i don't think for one minute that any of the things mentioned happened athough this is my opinion so in my experiences with them they were great i started for them right out of trucking school and in the middle of winter and they gave me the know how and knowledge i needed to succeed in this industry and the only reason i don't currently work for them is i work close to home and rarely travel any more if i was lookingto go back 48 states they would be one of the first i'd call !
honest experienced and always there for you thats the willis shaw i know !

Also, I never had a "Major" accident like turning a trailer over, I only had minor accidents, And No Company is going to tell you that you will never drive again if you had an accident. Unless it was Major! But a good driver who is safe will NEVER have any accidents at all. And that is the kind of drivers the world needs.
And if you do mess-up and turn a "trailor" over or whatever you called it (Trailer) Than you deserve to be fired, As just saying you misjudged is not going to save someone's life if you ever killed a family with your misjudgments!
Before I started working for Willis Shaw, I owed over $35,000.00 in unpaid credit card bills. Today I owe no bills and have a great future to look forward to. However I did not spend my free time at truck stops bad mouthing other people.
You do not have to be smart to be a truck driver, You only have to be safe and do your job, If you do that, And if you have chosen the right Company, You will be rewarded greatly!
So for those of you who have not yet gotten into the trucking industry, DO NOT let reports like the above stuff discourage you! Surely there are both Company rules and Federal rules you must follow, And some rules are outright silly, But you will be paid well if you do your job. It is like seeing the whole USA and getting paid for it! Although you must go where you are sent, You will see things you never even dreamed of seeing!
I am sure there are many rip-off reports about other companies other than Willis Shaw from "dropouts." But I am too busy living a happy life to search for them. I happened upon this silly rip-off when told by an ex-driver that it was here. To my shock...It is!
I say again to any of you folks who are interested in getting into the big-rig truck driving industry: DO NOT let these reports about this company nor any other trucking company discourage you! Follow your dreams and listen to your heart, Not to those who have fallen!

Your silly reports make good would be drivers not even want to get into the trucking industry. Ant to the drover that turned over his trailer... You could not even spell a simple word like "TRAILER" correct. Should there not be a "Rip-Off" report for this "Rip-Off.com" itself??? There should be.

I never got paid for several loads I did for them and this was 6 years ago. They still owe me money.
They have a reputation for abusing drivers.
I've spoken with many drivers over the years and it seems that every time I mention this company in conversation, the driver who I am speaking to makes an expression on his face like he just stepped in shit.
I have been a truck driver for 16 years and WSE is just about the worst company I have worked for.
The truck driving industry is becoming a seriously corrupt enterprise. I would suggest that drivers unite through a union.

Also, while I was out with a trainer (W. Schneider) he did a hit and run (hit a parked truck and did not report it). He tried to blame this accident on me. I had to report it to Glenn Rose in the safety dept. Glenn Rose started cursing at me as soon as I walked into the safety dept. It seems that when a driver could get away with it, a hit and run is OK.
Employees and this company are all criminals.
Avoid this company at all costs!!!
