I have 4 cards that I have put on with wal Mary money card and they are for my kids and my mother. They all live in Texas as I, but I work out of state. My mother keeps them and therefore I pay rent and food and everything else necessary to support them to my mom. I also send money to each one of the children as allowances for school (meals, gas, etc) and sometimes their dental spots come up and forget so I have to deposit again and do on and do forth.

Well I was told tonight by WMMC that I will be cancelled on the 24th due to the fact that I have too many deposits. WHAT? That's insane. I have never heard of that. I have had a few of these cards more than 3 years and now that all the kids have cards I am being treated like I'm doing something wrong. According to them I am not suppose to do more than 5 deposits per week on all my cards but if I only had one card I could do 5 deposits on it with no problem....is that a joke or what. Then I was proceeded to be told that I could NEVER get another WMMC again!

For some reason I'm not buying this...I did request to speak to a supervisor and the woman outright told me there was no one else to talk and that that was the policy. Well as far I as can see, nowhere on the faqs or the wal mart Cardholder agreement.

To be honest, this is the most absurd thing I have ever heard. I pay the $3 fee all the time and according to them, if you deposit more than $1000 in the previous month they will not charge you the monthly fee and I have been charged and never complained because it was easy for me to use for my families needs.

This card gave me the ability to keep my money in my bank and not have my kids use that account and overspend. The whole point of the Family pack WMMC was exactly for that purpose, to limit our children and this is the CRAP they come up with.

Totally ripped me and my family off with this STUPID "policy".

To: WMMC You've let go of a great customer due to you're prejudice, because I know many more that do this and I have done this for a long time and now you make up excuses to ruin my ability to support my family appropriately. So much for you help!

To everybody out there: find another prepaid card because this one just went in the toilet.

Too sensitive

AUTHOR: MochaG - (United States of America)

I think the OP is too sensitive on certain subjects here. The OP has his own purpose of using the card; however, the purpose is somewhat against the card company policies. As a result, the card company hinders the way the OP's plan.

I am not certain about the real purpose of the card. Is the card purpose really what the OP believe? That's questionable to me. If the OP thinks a little bit further about the reality, the OP may realize why a limit number of transaction is needed -- illegal money transaction. There are always some people (a handful of them) that look for a loop hole in anything. The card can actually be used that way. That's why the card company have generic rules to cover their own behind if any wrong thing happens.

Speaking of raising teenagers, I understand that most parents who have been through their hardship in their childhood would not want their kids to go through the same situation, but does this really help and teach their kids to be as strong as they are? Do their kids understand the value of money? The lesson must start early when they start school...

Anyway back to the topic, instead of trying to talk about what have been done, what is talking here is that is the generic policy of the card company a rip off? I would not call it a rip off, but I would call it an inconvenience which ties to other parties. As a result, it seems to be a sacrifice to prevent unlawful situations that could easily happen if there is no control at all.

Seriously...

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

That's absurd to think my mom, who works 40 hrs a week has time to deal with teenagers necessities every fifteen minutes
- When did tanning, nail salons, Aeropostale, subway all become "necessities"?

because if you can see how I deposit and how many times I do it and which cards I do it on, then you should obviously be able to see that there is nothing criminal or fraudulent about there spending
- Their problem wasn't with the spending it was with your deposits.  You didn't come out and say how many times you made deposits, but I would imagine it was several "small" deposits more often rather than one large deposit less often.  If you are making a lot of small deposits rather than one large deposit that could be seen as fraudulent.

As was posted per their terms they have the right to make this determination.  So perhaps you should find a different card to meet your needs.  Have you even checked with your bank.  Some banks have "student" accounts that have low fees(sometimes no fees), and give you(the parent) the ability to monitor their spending.

I'm going to two of my kids state meet today and have been on the road for 8 hours already and still have 6 more hour to go
- And yet you still have time while you are on the road to take the time to update your RipOff report.

By the way no one who has posted here yet works for GE, although at some point there probably will be a post from them asking you to contact them.

Family and financial advisors vs prepaid card

AUTHOR: Ridiculous jokes - (United States of America)

That's absurd to think my mom, who works 40 hrs a week has time to deal with teenagers necessities every fifteen minutes. As for the children, they are 16, and 2 that are 17. Two of them have their own cars and therefore "don't" have time to wait around for grandma and my mom is older and too tired to handle that. You act talk like you don't have teenagers, so that's obviously the mentality of the situation. As far as the small deposits to them...that's what the purpose of the WMMC family deal is for so that I can monitor the activity and spending of my kids. If you're going to tell me how to financially keep my sanity with my kids spending ability l, well then maybe I should have come to you for financial advice and not for a "prepaid card". I definitely know that if I ever see anyone purchasing a card or anything of the sort from WM I will be very outspoken of the remarks I have receives and the ability to manipulate our household on financial decision and the raising tactics that GE and WMMC seem to think they have a right to handle or interfere with. As far as your comment on "criminal or fraudulent", that just shows to me you only want to but into everyone's personal decisions of doing things the way we want to and not yours, because if you can see how I deposit and how many times I do it and which cards I do it on, then you should obviously be able to see that there is nothing criminal or fraudulent about there spending. Whenever you looked at deposits you should have looked at their purchases and they range from meals, fuel, tanning, nail salons, the buckle, Aeropostale, subway, eye doctors, orthodontists, etc, etc, etc... Your ridiculous comment about that just makes me think that I was dealing with a bunch of inept and inadequate future parents, because of you're answering this message on a Friday, that means if I was you or my mom was you, my kids would have to wait all day for me to get off of work to get gas, buy a meal, or whatever a teenager wants to do while no one is home. I'm going to two of my kids state meet today and have been on the road for 8 hours already and still have 6 more hour to go and they leave later to be there and you expect them to wait on me to take them...all I've done here is realize what a bunch of quacks run this place. It's very unfortunate.

Easy fix

It isn't a rip off because they have the right to refuse your business. Instead of wasting $60 a month, just send them a check. That was easy.

Card holder agreement

AUTHOR: Striderq - (U.S.A.)

Went to www.walmartmoneycard.com and clicked on Cardholder Agreement. Paragraph 6 includes "For security reasons, we may at any time impose additional limits on the amount, number or type of Card reloads you can make and also may impose additional limits on the maximum Card balance. " Now it doesn't mention 5 deposits between all cards but indicates that deposit limits (number and amount) are likely. My questions would be: Why not just make 1 large deposit instead of several small ones? and Why have so many cards? If your mom is taking care of your kids while you're out of state, then just have one card with her. If you want the kids to be able to make a special purchase, just have them go with grandma and select what they want and she pays for it. A lot of small deposits could well be interpreted as possible criminal or fraudulent activity.
