I worked for walmart for nearly one year, and in that time I witnessed a violation of EPA regulations in relation to the amount of silver waste (which is highly toxic) allowed on site(25 gallons). when I reported it to my manager he told me to hide it, in front of other associates, I talked to my assistant manager who told me to just do as I was told, I called out MEM and out general Market Manager. the issue was resolved, but I was yelled at for not telling my manager that it was a violation of our EPA mandates(which as the manager over the photo lab he is REQUIRED to learn through walmarts computer based learning) and was then written up and summarily fired within 60 through no fault of my own.
I firmly believe that walmart does NOT actually inspect its stores, and fails to ensure that its management follow the laws that govern them.
I have, of course, been granted unemployment.

Walmart, the high cost of lower prices

AUTHOR: Candyman47 - (U.S.A.)

I used to work for Walmart, but not out of love for the job or the company but
rather because I needed a job. You should watch the documentary called Walmart, the high cost of lower prices. They truly do not give a rats behind about any environmental laws and even less about their employees

#5 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Tell me about it

AUTHOR: Heavenly - (U.S.A.)

Two weeks after finding out I was pregnant, walmart fired me for inability to do my job. Went back after I had the baby, and now I'm probobly gonna be fired again because I have to go through two surgerys, and can't work until they're both done. Of course, the reason I'll actually be fired will be "Inability to do my job" like before. They even tried to intimidate me into signing a voluntary termination notice the first time. Walmart is a lousy job, and do what they want when they want. But, unless you want to work for minimum wage, not alot of options.

Not the reason for firing

AUTHOR: Inspector - (U.S.A.)

I'm sure Whistleblowing was not the reason for the dismissal. Like any job, they can find another reason.

ITS ILLEGAL TO BE FIRED FOR WHISTLEBLOWING

AUTHOR: Laurie - (U.S.A.)

FILE COMPLAINTS WITH THE DEPT OF LABOR AND EEOC..
ITS COVERED UNDER
-Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act
-Occupational Safety and Health Act
-Sarbanes Oxley Act
-Toxic Substances Control Act

By the way I found this by searching on Whistleblower laws on the internet.

Its amazing how much information you can find - IF YOU BOTHER TO LOOK!
Which most people don't do..
