I went in to walmart the other day. I not a fan of them as far as i am concerned they need to go bankrupt. I usually shop at target I can get in and get out. But if I can't find what i'm looking for I go to walmarthell.

I was buying christmas presents from my neice and nephews. The boys are into video games. After looking for someone to open the case i told her what i wanted. then she proceeds to walk off with them. I told her give them here i have more shopping to do. she said she couldn't do that. and i am not walking all over the store. I told her to stick up her butt and walked off. It was about 200.00 worth of games. I can be grouchy from time to time. I finished my shopping and checked out. and went down the street to Game Stop and bought the games they wanted.

What gets me is I do realize there are a lot of thieves, Thug bugs what ever you want to call it out there, But i'm not one of them. this policy needs to be changed they lost 200.00 that day because of stupidity. They dont lock up the DVDS or CD's what makes games any different.

One other thing is you can't never find anyone to help you in the departments, and they never have enough check outs open.

And changing that policy would have cost a lot more

AUTHOR: Aaron - (U.S.A.)

That $200 sale would have made Wal-Mart maybe $20.

1 game being stolen would cost them $50

Yeah the math here makes sense.

And every store has this same policy. Gamestop didn't hand you the games did they? This is a silly report. You hate Wal-Mart and just wanted to trash them. Grow up.

In some stores...

AUTHOR: Ceadda - (U.S.A.)

In some stores you would have been thrown straight out the door.

It's in a locked case for a reason. If your not done shopping, don't come pick out items. There is no reason why you can't pay for a few games and then resume shopping. Stop being ridiculous.

They don't lock up shopping either, and those cost way more than video games. Come to think of it, the SAMS CLUB pop machines aren't locked up, and no one steals those.

As others have said: No ripoff here.

Getting grouchy with the sales help does no good...

So they make you ring it up there. Big deal. It's only a big deal to people who want to steal games.

How did WalMart rip you off?

AUTHOR: Edgeman - (U.S.A.)

I'm sorry, I'm not seeing the ripoff.

She was going to ring you up and you told her to stick the games up her butt. Where's the ripoff?

And to be clear- you don't go to WalMart except to get things that you can't find anywhere else. You presumably couldn't find these games anywhere else so you go to WalMart and tell the cashier that you want to walk around and shop in the store that you never go to? There must have been quite a few items on your list that you just couldn't find anywhere else, eh?

no ripoff here

AUTHOR: Cat - (U.S.A.)

This is not a ripoff here. You will find similar rules at any large store right now. Video games are easily stolen and the rules set in place is to keep down the theft. If you can't understand that and be polite you do not need to buy them. If you had a store and you were having a theft problem you no doubt would do what you needed to do to keep items from being stolen. No ripoff here, just another patron that could not be polite, follow the rules. If I remember right, these are rules I learned in kindergarten."play fair" is at the top of the list. You are not playing fair. Come on and remember to have some of the Christmas Spirit. It helps everyone shopping and paying for everyone to cooperate and things will run much more smoothly. No I do not work in Walmart or Target(where the prices are much higher anyway) I just help them out where I can. I play fair and I also am polite. Even if you do not agree you do not have to be hateful and yes you were hateful when you tell someone "to stick it up your butt". Wonderful Christmas Spirit you have. I am sure hope the children you bought the games are much more grateful for them than you are in buying them. Think about the many people who have nothing this year and perhaps your spirit may change.

This is an understatement...

"..I can be grouchy from time to time.."
You get the Gold Medal for the "most obvious statement of the month".

DVD's and CD's are under $20 for the most part, games can be $30-$60. You are right about thieves and this is exactly why they make you pay for the games in the department. They don't know you from the next person and you say you are not a thief, and there is no indication that you are. But ask a shoplifter and they will say the exact same thing. They can't "profile" people so if they do this with one person they have to do this with everyone. If they did start to profile people you can bet that within 5 minutes you would have some nut looking to sue them.

By the way Target has the EXACT same policy. For the games that they pull out of the cases they must be rung up in the Electronics Department.
