Ward Construction Took Deposit money and ran. Excuse after excuse for not beginning job. No verbal contact once he had a check. Liar, never returns or picks up a call. Hatfield, Pennsylvania

On April 6th, 2011 Joe Ward from Ward Construction took from me $1000.00 deposit for an attic renovation proposal. I expected to receive a signed contract within the week in the mail.
 
On May 18th I sent Mr. Ward an email requesting a start date and a signed contract. A month later I heard from him via email again saying he could start on June 27th and would send a contract right over.

Finally on June 13th we rec'd a contract showing we had PAID him the $1000.00. He indicated that if there was anything else he should write on the proposal to let him know. I sent a revised proposal over to him including some of the details that we had discussed, but were not written down. He responded a week later with a "sounds good".
 
I have tried to contact Mr. Ward by phone to work out details of a start date. He could not confirm a date. He kept telling me he would let me know....weeks past and I decided to try and speak to him. I left 3 voicemail messages but he never returned any of my calls.

On July 15th I emailed Joe again and said we needed a firm commitment and a signed statement of work as I would need to plan to be home from work when he was at my house. He replied on July 19th that if he didn't have a firm date by July 21st he would return my money. I have yet to receive my deposit.
