On January 17, 2009, my husband and I received an offer of modification from WaMu. We had been working with them since July 2008 and were thrilled to be finished with the process. The modification paperwork required our signature before a notary and $105 certified funds, with everything due back via overnight mail by January 19.
We jumped through all kinds of hoops to get the paperwork signed, notarized, and get certified funds, sent everything back to them by their deadline.
We heard nothing for six weeks until we got a letter dated February 23 (we received that letter in MARCH) saying we'd been declined for our loan modification because we havea deficit of monthly income to monthly expenses. Where they got this information we do not know.
It is now March 22, I've left three voicemail messages and sent one complete package of all our financial, including a budget which shows we do not overspend our income, via overnight mail to the person who initially denied the offer they sent to us, Michael C. Lemon (or maybe it's Limon). We've yet to receive a phone call from Michael C Lemon/Limon or anyone else who has received our information. The only phone calls we get are from customer service asking us when we are paying our loan that is now two months past due because we were waiting for a bill with the new modified amount.
It is baffling that WaMu would send us legal paperwork, request certified funds, then deny us SIX WEEKS LATER.
I continue to make phone calls and leave messages but no one in Michael C. Lemon/Limon's department even acknowledges our existence.
We are tired of being jerked around, told that we have a modification then we don't. We are trying our best to get through this difficult time but their retraction of their own offer has set us back even further.
If anyone knows how I may contact a live human at WaMu loss mitigation, someone who will help us, please let me know. Thank you.

After lots and lots of digging and searching, I finally found someone at WaMu who would review our case. I am happy to report that the intial money we paid up front was accounted for and our loan modified. It just took lots and lots of work on our parts to find someone who was willing to look at all that had been messed up with our file to make progress.

I am very pleased to report that, after quite a bit of investigation, I found the email address of a couple WaMu employees. After sending only one email to both email addresses, I was contacted by a WaMu employee who helped me get this entire mess fixed. This is now a non-issue! YAHOO!

More on my WaMu Loan Modification Fiasco

It's now April 16 and I've still received no call back from Michael Corey Lemon or his cohorts. I did do a little more digging myself and spoke with a very helpful woman who relayed my case to her supervisor. Turns out our file wasn't handled according to procedure. The procedure is when a signed modification packet comes through, the modified terms are supposed to be set up in their computer system and the deal is done. Why our file was sent for further review after this supposed "done deal" is beyond my understanding. We still have nothing new other than that bit. For those keeping track, we've been working at this since July 2008. That's nine months, going on ten. This should be illegal.
