In February 2008 we had a WAMU checking account. When filing our taxes we opted to direct deposit those funds into that account. As it turns out we ended up being audited so our refund was put on hold. In the mean time we switched banks for various reasons. We didnt think anything of our refund because of the audit, we assumed we would recieve a paper check. However, that is not the case. The IRS states that $1921.43 was direct deposited into our closed account on june 19th. The bank did not reject the deposit and send it back to the IRS. Having said that we have been in constant contact with various departments in the bank. Every single one of them say that deposit never happened, in fact they claim that our checking account with them was never used (when in fact we had it for over a year, having paychecks direct deposited and everything) They claim no responsibility for the almost 2 thousand dollars of OUR money they have kept. Its like they kept the money and deleted all record of it. The IRS cannot do anything if the funds werent rejected and sent back. So we are out of that money and chase morgan gets richer.
