I had first used Waychoffs Heating and air in March of 08. I had a leak in a mini split ac unit. The company spokesperson (Tom) stated that there is a $79 diagnostic charge and once the tech. located the problem he would quote a flat rate charge to fix the problem. The tech. came out checked out the system using his sniffer device (sorry I don't know the technical term) and told me that he thought it was leaking at the fittings. He tightened the fitting and put new refrigerant. The Charge was $79 + refrigerant = $115.00

Five months Later in August 08 I was calling Waychoffs back. The unit was low on refrigerant again. The last Tech had missed were the leak was. The company sent out a new tech. he performed the same test with the same equiptment as the last tech but he did pressurize the system with nitrogen. The leak was then discoved located in the inside coil unit. The tech informed me that the cost of repair would far exceed the cost of a new unit. Now for realy bad news. The tech told me the bill for the day would be $338!!!. The only thing the tech did was find the leak (Diagnostic) and that was it. NO repair work done and no refrigerant added (that would be another $110.00) I was left with a non working unit.

I called the office and they stated they would remove $100 for the nitrogen (costco charged me $0 to fill four SUV tires with nitrogen) but I still owed $238. The spokesperson (Tom) said that he was not charging the diagnostic charge but a leak finding charge which costs 3 times as much.

This is just plain wrong, they were out just 5 months earlier and miss diagnosed the location of the leak. (the unit leaked out at the same rate as it did the first time). This company should not be trusted. They do not stand behind their work and will miss lead you about their pricing. Shop other AC companies before using this one.

Poor Installation

AUTHOR: Leon - (U.S.A.)

Whoever installed the equipment for Bill did not install correctly. We never miss-diagnosed the system it had leaking flare joint in March and in August it had a new leak. We charged Bill in March a 70.00 Diagnostic charge and 45.00 for flare joint repair and refrigerant, nothing deceptive about that. With the cost of fuel and labor, 115.00 was a fair charge. In august we had a new leak, same labor, refrigerant, and we had to do another diagnostic test . We offered to install a new system since he had multiple leaks, and we could warranty the labor on the new system . The homeowner did not want a new system and stated that he would buy one over the internet.
We checked with the city and the installed equipment was not permitted, which is illegal. Usually when someone doesn't pull a permit they aren't licensed, and there's no way we can warranty repairs on an unlicensed installation. If Bill would have had a licensed contractor install the equipment originally, he probably would have never called us, because it wouldn't have had a leak.

At Waychoff's A/C we are dedicated to Customer Satisfaction; we've been a member of the BBB for over 6 years and have never had a complaint. We are also a Trane Comfort Specialist, and have to submit 80 customer satisfaction surveys every year. We can be contacted at (904) 838-9052 and you can ask for Leon or Rick if you'd like to know more about our dedication to customer satisfaction
Thank You

Installed improperly

AUTHOR: Leon - (U.S.A.)

What Bill failed to mention, is that he was the installing contractor and he is unlicensed to do this work. We simply went out to diagnose the system and charged him our normal rate. When he called again, we charged him for our service, and told him that it needed to be reinstalled and since the work was not licensed to begin with we needed to install a new system in order for it to be under our warranty.

Bill could face local and federal fines for unlicensed work on an air conditioning system and not having an EPA lisc. We never reported him to the city.

We have been a member of the BBB for 7 years and never had a complaint, and we're a Comfort Specialist dealer, that requires us to survey customers and maintain a 95% customer satifaction score in order to be in the program. We are not Ripp-offs and we have a list of satisfied customers.
