I sent it back and requested a refund. However, I did not know this at the time that I did not have to pay for shipping the unit back to them (according to UPS) and emailed the company (Wegotbetterdeals.com) to send an RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) number and paid almost $17 to have it sent back.
The companies' customer service department does not read their emails correctly and sent me a replacement unit when I requested a refund in the first place.
I did receive the replacement unit yesterday (6/30/2009) and it would not work either. I emailed them back yesterday and informed them that if I did not get a refund, I would contact the BBB, My Credit Card Company and the state's attorney generals office.
They "fired" an email back stating that I shouldn't been so "threatening" and that "...good companies would have granted your request without the threats".
I have also been trying to contact them via their customer service phone number. Why they have a long distance phone number I will never know. Any legitimate company would have a toll free number to contact them.
They said that they are open at 9:00 EST (according to their website), however, they said that we contacted them after normal business hours. At 8:45 CST (9:45 EST [the time that I made the call]), they should have been open to take my call. But no! They still said that they were closed.
I work in customer service myself for 2 years and I would never treat any of my customers the way they are treating me now. If I did that, I would have been FIRED longtime ago.
This company says they are a legitimate company and that they sell several of these types of units every day.
Also their eBay store is worse. I just glad I didn't buy from their eBay store or I would have been left "holding the bag". If you search for their store on eBay, you would see how many negatives this so called "legitimate" company has.
And today we contacted UPS about them scheduling a pickup on this piece of "junk" and they said that we need to have a UPS Label and tracking number from the company before it can ship or leave it out the door and the driver will put a new shipping label on it.
If it is refurbished, then the company that refurbished it would have done Quality Control on the unit first before shipping it out to make sure that it worked. Apparently not. It looked like the unit had been thru HELL and back on the inside (looked inside it with a flashlight) and it had a screw missing on the back of it.
Do not do business with this company. As I will not do any business with them anymore after this problem. You might just get a lemon with the way this company does business. I sure did. I will not make this MISTAKE again.
I also wish that any representative from the BBB that looks at this, to investigate the legitimacy of this company. So that other customers of this company that has had bad service, to get back their $ that they rightfully deserve.
