Well, it happened to me. I was given a 90 day warning because I had failed a few phone calls - remember they are recorded and you never know which ones they will listen to. After signing my 90 day warning, I got hit again. Fired. I filed for unemployment, since I was not guilty of misconduct. My unemployment claim was screwed up according to the rep I spoke with in Carson City, NV, she fixed it. Now I was waiting for my claim to be approved. It was - $254 per week, a meager existance. Then, the night before I was supposed to get my direct deposit on my unemployment card, I checked the U website - it gave a code of QD - which means disqualied from unemployment. How is that possible. Yes, I did not provide the full scripting on a call after the 90 day warning, but how can you when your job is constantly threatened with IM threats during calls, which cause you to go the to bathroom and get sick? I will be filing an appeal. Watch out for West!

Search TipsIt was crowed and dirty in the building, they can lock the building down and you can not get out!!!! I even told my unemployment personnel about the dates changed and he done nothing. I had a friend that worked there and they fired her after training for NO reason!!!!!! She worked at Customer Service for like 25 years. WEST told me you may have a job one day and not the next.
The goal is to get off unemployment and work and stay off it!! Not go back on it after several months. $500 Bonus yeah right how many have got this bonus? How many from Job Connect have survived? I am just wanting to find out if its a bad or good company to work for? I am not bad mouthing this is what happened to me. Why is the turnover so high? They were hiring 200 people but where do you put them? All the desk were full.

In 4 months at West in support of your claim of unethical practices do you agree there are over 20 areas a rep can be instantly fired for (I call them 'nitpicking points') without at least a 'grace' period of reasonable time to correct it? If there are any attorneys reading these posts, can you answer these questions in the context of legal rights of employees working in a city and state that is 'at will?'
* Are there any 'nitpicking' laws or precedent cases addressing such issues? The reason is that at West Corporation my observation of practices in their call centre at 1315 Financial Blvd., Reno, NV A new hire is not expressly told the full scope of the demands of the job to be done or the fact that the average hire will likely only last 3 to 6 months (all others who 'dog it through' and survive past 6 months can become supervisors thus releasing themselves from the daily pain of it.
* Are there any laws concerning on the job training? The reason I mention it is because the longer one is on the sales floor at West the more one learns about policies and procedures and more pressure is brought to keeping calls as short as possible which is next to impossible because the software they are using is clearly inadequate (lag time between screens to do what has to be done while' in call' can be several seconds to a minute or more & not infrequent complete technical malfunction throughout the whole building when each rep. must take the orders on a sheet that is turned over to the supervisor for later processing once the system is 'up')
* Are there any laws concerning newer employees and 'giving them a chance?' The reason I mention this is I saw many people whom I sat next to both as observing trainees and fellow employees be escorted out of the building never to be seen again with no explanation and to me they appeared not to fit the stereotype of a bad employee.
