Welcome to the new police state of medicine. Because of the thugs of the DEA many doctors and dentists are afraid to write any prescriptions for narcotic pain meds. Of course there are some practitioners that just don't care. I had a root canal at Penn dental school and when I asked what they would prescribe I was told to take aspirin! 4 days of total agony and no sleep. Thank god Phjilly has an active underground market for these drugs. The next time I will not hesitate to use whatever means I have to so I can stay pain free!
