I stayed at the Westgate hotel in San Diego, CA for New Years. They had a brunch at the hotel and my friends and I decided to go there.
There was no sign in there, no cashier and no one told us we had to pay so we assumed it was free. I've stayed at many hotels where there was a free lunch or free breakfast.
All of a sudden we got a bill for $300 at the table! Ouch! $300 for lunch for 4 people and there was no way for us to know....
I called Richard Cox who is the hotel manager at the westgate and he said he wont do anything for me. I told Richard Cox that there are consumer protection laws and they cant charge $300 for a lunch with no sign up.
I was appalled to hear the HOTEL MANAGER, RICHARD COX, say this to me.
DONT STAY HERE! Their hotel is weired and all the people that work there are weird. You don't feel welcome at the hotel.
RICHARD COX IS A SCAM ARTIST!!!!

I am very sorry that the guest assumed this service was free. At no time was the guest ever informed by a member of the hotel staff at check in, our follow up quality check nor on arrival at the restaurant that meals were included with is room. The hotel only offers standard European plan rooms meaning no food and beverage included.
With regards to a posted price the hotel had print flyers in the restaurant, in our guest rooms and at the front desk with a listing of all events and the cost to attend for each. All information for our holiday events were also available online at the hotels website with the appropriate prices.
Sincerely,
Hotel Management
