On Feb 24, my husband and I purchased a timeshare. It all sounded good and looked good on paper. It is all false and nothing is as it said as we found out when we tried to use these perks that came along with ownership. After reviewing all of the paperwork and calling and trying to use our "getaways" it was all but impossible to use them when you wanted. Westgate dictates when you go on vacation not you, and this isn't what we were told. I called on March 1st and left a message for our salesman Amanda. No call back. Friday March 2 I called and left a message for Pam Faulkner, Amanda, and Lisa Maples. We knew we only had so much time to get out of the contract so I wrote a letter of intent to cancel the contract and sent a copy to Corporate in Orlando Florida and also a copy to the attention of Lisa Maples, sales manager, In Gatlinburg TN. This letter was dated March 1 and post-marked on March 2nd. We were new to this so I needed to talk to someone to make sure I had sent the letter to the correct persons. NO one called me back. I called and left numerous messages on voice mail pleading for a call back. I just assumed they received the cancellation letter and it was done. WRONG, my credit card was billed in April for $444.13. I was angry and tried calling these people again with no luck. I called the general number and the service rep told me there was no record that I cancelled and I would have to pay. I asked why should I have to be stuck with this when I put a notice in writing to cancel and mailed it with-in 10 days of signing the contract. She said she didnt know but it wasnt cancelled.
I told her I had a copy of the dated letter and I could get my phone records showing I had called numerous times. Her response was rude Well you can get those and the letter but you cant prove you sent the letter or wasnt calling for another reason. I dont know what to tell you other than you can try to sell it. I tried contacting Amanda, Lisa Maples, Amy Little, .I even called Pam Faulkner who done our paper work to get guidance but no one would return my calls. I even wrote letters to corporate again. I called customer service again and said that I had done all that I knew to do and I felt like I was being avoided for whatever reason and this was not good customer service. Then I started calling almost every day trying to contact someone to see why there was a charge. Amanda and Lisa, the ones who sold it to us with no luck of a return call not so much as a letter back. We have been billed religiously every month; they have no problem doing that, taking our money. We have not disputed payments e didn't want it to hurt our credit worthiness. If it wasn't for that I would have not made the first payment, disputed the charges AND blocked my credit card.
The Contract should have been cancelled by March 5th at the latest with my letter sent. They have gotten paid almost $4000.00; we have received nothing in return. I feel like they avoided me for this reason. I am afraid to block the credit card because it states that if there is change they can demand the monies to paid in full. I have called numerous other times to the customer service number and they all say "Well I don't know what to tell you, I can put a request in for Amy Little to call you back or you can write a letter to corporate." This is unacceptable. I have done everything I was told to do from the beginning and I just get ignored and my money taken every month. I have continued to call Westage Customer service and written to corporate office many times, and left messages for Amy Little (they always say she is on vacation), Lisa Maples (messages on her cell who is the sales manager), and Pam Faulkner, I spoke with her and she said all she does is paper work and she doesn't know what to tell me other than to call Amy Little. To sum this up this is just plain deceitful and not acceptable to anyone. It is just wrong for a company to messages, complaints, and most importantly a request for cancellation and continue to ignore us no matter what we have tried to do.
And now the Better Business Bureau says they can't help me. And I received a letter from Westgate that states that "The Contract for Purchase and Sale" is incomplete and wants me to sign the documents, have them notarized and send them back in. I called to ask what this was and they guy stated that if was incomplete and until I send the "Notarized" Documents back in they can't even start the deeding process,,,,what a joke......Anyone have any suggestions before I get my attorney involved. Oh, and we called and cancelled the Amex. card they had for the payments and got a replacement because they ignored the notice we sent for them to stop, and we know they received it because it was sent certified. Then they somehow charged this month on my new card and they don't have authorization. I sent another letter this week certified too.......HELP!!
